a10-7850K on sale worth it?

The A10-7850K from AMD is on sale right now from Newegg Canada for $164 CAD. Is it worth it? If it is I'd overclock it as many people have said you get get 4.5 GHz OC's on it. I was planning on getting the i3-4370 but this one is cheaper and has a much better iGPU and will have a better clock speed so is it worth it?

No.

Terrible IPC. At least as far as gaming is concerned, i3 would be better.

To me, that seems like a good deal. However, don't take advice from me alone.

Also I was going to convert the current price on Amazon UK to the price on Newegg. I didn't know that the pound was doing that well/the CAD was doing so badly.

I use a 7870k, I'm not sure how much of a difference there is between the 2, but I don't regret buying this.

Do you need a dGPU for photoshops? I think not really considering the 7850k already has R7 graphics on it....

I don't think he's planning to get a dGPU

the 7850K and 7870K are almost the same except for a .2 GHz difference which is an easy fix

Get the 7850K.

Unless she's doing serious gaming.. which she's obviously not, that chip will do wonderfully.

But first, let's talk about parallel universes.

I think the 7850k is a much better deal unless you can fit a decent dGPU in there as well.

I have spent a couple dozen hours using a machine that I built with a G3220 and it's not the best but it's definitely not the worst. It's pretty snappy with an SSD and Windows 10 but not something I would want to use on a daily basis.

Intel CPU's are good for one thing: getting 5-10 more fps in games at most. AMD CPU's are generally a lot snappier with programs than Intel's are, according to a friend of mine that recently bought a i7-4790k, who just before had a FX-8350. He says he gets slightly better FPS, but multitasking is a lot slower.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not, but either way, get the A10-7850K and that MSI A78M. You won't need an aftermarket cooler, the stock should do fine. EDIT: I can guarantee it will stay within safe temps if you put Arctic Silver 5 on it, and scrape off the sludge that comes with the cooler itself.

Who knows... she could be a gamer behind OP's back (I didn't know my grandpa was addicted to DotA, Starcraft, and even CoC until a few months back... built him a rig so he would rage so much due to lag... now he rages when someone trolls xD)

Okay, back on topic, I say go for it if thats what she's gonna do with it.
