Upgrading my PC (Gaming based),i have questions..

Hello everyone! I have TONS of questions on upgrading my PC:

1. Is it really compatible all in the chassis that i've chosen?

2. I like to play games like GTA V, Civ5, Hitman, BF4, and other demanding games.. Can i play it on ultra with stable 45-60 fps?

3. What parts you think i should change?

4. WILL MY CPU COOLER BLOCK MY RAM SLOT???? :( IF YES, air cooler or AIO liquid cooler?

Processor: AMD A10 6800K 4.1GHz

GPU: Sapphire TRI- R9 280X / MSI GTX 960 Gaming 4G (Really torned between the two and i can't decide which one to get)

Chassis: Corsair 300R

RAM: GSKILL Ripjaw 2x4gb

PSU - HUNTKEY JUMPER 550 80+

CPU COOLER - Cooler Master V8GTS

SSD - Kingston 120 GB SSDNOW V300

(Note: The only thing that i will not be upgrading for now is the MOBO, its an MSI FM2-A55-E33, im planning on upgrading it after this particular upgrade and get an GA-Z97X as well as an i5-4690)

Reason for upgrading: Tired of playing in low settings :/

Notenote: The overall cost of this rig is 760$ (i dont live in US, i just added up all the expense i accumulated in my currency and converted it to $)

that Amd chip is really gonna bottleneck you in games like GTA 5 etc, also Z97 mobo with i5-4690 is stupid unless its a typo and you forgot the K at the end.

anyways what you should do is.

i5-4460

R9 390

8gb or 16gb or ram

a trustable PSU

the stock cooler would work

840 or 850 evo from samsung (SSD)

but as you aren't upgrading your CPU the minimum I recommend is an R9 390.

kingston is in some deep water with a swap to the memory controllers in the ssd changing speeds from +400MB/s to 150MB/s , so i would change that to a samsung 840/850 evo.

and the cooler is overkill, get an all in one liquid cooler.

i have never heard of that psu in my life, so for $20 more which you saved on a cooler switch, you could get a thermaltake toughpower 750 watt psu for more headroom and reliability http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153198

all your other choice are up to you though

get Hyper 212EVO V8 is overkill

Noted! So glad that that exact model is available in my local pc components shop.

Yes its typo.

I also want an intel cpu, but im pretty sure i cant fit that right in my current mobo which is an fm2-a55-e33.

And by the way thank you!

i5 4460

R9 380

XFX TS 550W (Your PSU is a forest fire waiting to happen)

8GB RAM

Thanks! And by the way if i can ask, why it 4460 rather than it 4690?

Unless you're getting a 4690K and Z97 board you're just wasting money.

1. PCPartpicker will say if it's compatible of not, check that out.

2. According to anandtech you can just reach that 60 fps with a 980 on very high settings, if you really want that ultra you would want to go higher than a 980 leading into a 980ti or on the AMD side looking at a R9 Fury X, but on the amd side there is nothing you can do to get that crisp 60fps Ultra settings for GTA 5.

3. If you want those high settings get a higher graphics card (obviously) You may want to get a Intel, if you're not doing recording or anything then there is no need of getting a really high end one. All you need is maybe a i5. As you need a intel you will need to change the motherboard. (Wait I just saw that in your lower note)

4. Depending on the hight of you're heat sinks, if you go on pcpartpicker it should check the clearance, how tall are your ram sticks?

Noted on that SSD and cooler overkill part! The samsung ssd card cost more but i think its worth it and instead of an v8 gts i picked the hyper 212x suggested by SPAS-ID.

On the PSU part, i wish that tt psu is available here in my country though but sadly it isnt. I was checking this other pc components shop and i saw this 500W 80+ gold certified PSU from FSP (around 79$), also an 750W/650W 80+ silver certified (around 69$) from FSP also. Should i get the 500w 80+ gold or the 750w or 650W with only 80+ silver?

Get a cheaper CPU cooler like the Hyper 212 evo and get a better PSU, that wont be reliable

PC is Intel Core i5 6400, GIgabyte H170 Gaming 3, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB 2400Mhz ,Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, NZXT S340, ASUS Geforce GTX 960. Fractal Design Tesla R2 650W. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/793XNG. Graphics card choices don't always have to be dictated on performance. If you want the game stream and power consumption of the GTX 970 get that. If you want raw performance of the R9 390 get that. In the end we are all gamers, so what if your buddy gets an extra 5 fps?

Tried pcpartpicker, no issues when i put the overkill cpu cooler v8 gts, mobo and the ram i chosen which is gskill ripjaw 2x4gb.

Thanks for that awesome tip though, i will be getting 980 on my next next upgrade for that steady fps and ultra settings :)

Btw if i can ask, with this rig what do you think is the settings for gta v? high or medium? and the expected fps?

Yes thank you! Im gonna change my cpu cooler pick and get that hyper 212 instead, in PSU i havent decided yet but im thinking of going for a 500W 80+ gold certified FSP AURUM. Will that be enough?

These are all based off GTA 5 on 1080p (which I assume you're running at).

R9 280x/GTX 960 - High: 58 fps

                              - Very High: 40

R9 290x/GTX 970 - High: 65

                              - Very High: 47

GTX 980                - High: 72

                              - Very High: 63

GTX 980ti              - High: 102

                              - Very High: 80

Results from previous experiences and andandtech.
