I've been looking around on the forums at all the great builds, and have been inspired to put something together.  So I started looking around my parts room and came up with something i thought would be sort of cool and a little retro.  Anyway on with the specs i suppose.

- CPU: Pentium II 400

- Mobo: Abit AB - BH6

- Ram: 3 random sticks 320m

- 2d GPU: ATI Rage 32mb

- 3d Gpu: (2)Voodoo 2 8mb

- Hdd: Samsung 40 gig

- PSU: Some random 600w

- Case: Coolermaster el cheapo case.

^ Cpu's, fairly sure that top heatsink is stuck on that cpu...

Should have some more stuff to come tomorrow.

Still have yet to find my SB live.. have some things to do around here for a couple hr's then i'll go look in the garage for it and some other spare parts.  pretty sure i have an old dell out there than can have some parts robbed off it.

Thanks for the comments guys, i'll post some more pics when they are dry, but they cleaned up fairly well... just need to let them set for a day or 2 to let them dry.

Saw the pics, crapped my pants. Can someone explain why doing that isn't an incredibly insanely horrible idea.

What about all the caps? and rust?

Dont think rust would be an issue with just washing it.  Could be tho, well see.

So i was thinking about making a war torn type case, and before taring up the case i'm going to use, thought i'd try out a scrap one first.  So, on with the case modding!

^ Ok the ram was not part of the idea but it wouldn't work in the system anyway so..

^ First couple little too close to the edge for the side panel to go back on.

^ Little more spread out, ignore the paint just a test to see what it will look like.

Oh yeah sorry about the crappy pictures, they where taken with my phone.  Anyway let me know what you guys think.

What about all the caps? and rust?

Its not going to be exposed to water for that long for rust to occur.

Love the idea of a battle scarred case, like the old school components have weathered the assault of newer hardware and survived.

I started to mod out the case a little but, quick tip cutting case plastic with a saber saw is not a great idea... it cuts it fast but wields it right back together when u get past the part you cut..  So after about an hr of cutting and re cutting i had to go back to the coping saw, which is slow and a pain in the ass to use.

q5pc.jpg

^ Coolermaster something or other, case i'm starting out with.

^ Inside without the 5.25 or 3.5 racks

^ The metal flexed a little too much while cutting and got a booboo in it.

^ Making sure the insert is wide enough

^ You can see the case behind the mesh right now but its going to be flat black when painted so should not be too noticeable.

^ Same shut but focused on the top

^ All done fitting it

Only thing left to do with that front panel is to either glue or bondo the mesh to it and paint it.  Still not sure if i'm gonna fill it with holes or not.

z9ol.jpg

^ Ended up using glue, well see how it works out.  Also pinched those pices hanging over down into the glue to give it some more support.

qzlo.jpg

^ Top inside of the front panel, those chucks of steel are C clamps using them to just weigh it down and hold the mesh in place.

Well that's all for today, may do some tomorrow after work, probably need to put another layer of glue on the inside of that front panel for good measure.  Maybe some paint, oh i'm going with a flat black on the inside and a sand on the outside for the main color..  I do have some flat green for the outside, may do a little bit of camo.. not that great at it but.

Speed holes will make it go faster

Shouldn't you have taken off the heatsink of the GPU etc before washing? The paste / pads would have created a barrier that would of prevented any of the suds from clean it.

About the copper paint stuff.. i bough this on a whim and what its sprayed on it just a piece of masking paper, sprayed pretty thick in the middle.  Seems to have some sort of reactive properties when its sprayed to congeal together in a pattern, i dunno it looks really cool , and 3d-ish up close.  appears to have highlights and shadows built in..  I dunno thought i would share it, may turn up in another build.

About the front panel, i'm not so sure painting it all sand is working all that well.  I'm thinking painting the mesh part black and having the ring stay sand?  I dunno let me know what you guys think..

   Thanks for the comments guys.
