Gigabyte GTX G1 970 SLI set up

HalfDeadPicasso

Hello everyone, So today I add my second GTX 970 for a SLI. Before on Battlefield 4 on all High setting I would get about 85-104 FPS and now with my SLI its just stuck at 104 and it will not pass that. At times the FPS will drop if I look at the sky,to about 85-90 FPS. How can I fix this I have a 1440p 144Hz monitor.

Sorry here are my specs:

Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor

Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory

Corsair CX 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB G1 Video Card SLI

Try updating gpu drivers

PC is Intel Core i5 6400, GIgabyte H170 Gaming 3, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB 2400Mhz ,Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, NZXT S340, ASUS Geforce GTX 960. Fractal Design Tesla R2 650W. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/793XNG. Graphics card choices don't always have to be dictated on performance. If you want the game stream and power consumption of the GTX 970 get that. If you want raw performance of the R9 390 get that. In the end we are all gamers, so what if your buddy gets an extra 5 fps?

just SLI issues, its expected. you get frame drops and what not. also have you applied the BF4 SLI Profile?

check you're VRAM too if its going over 3.5gb

BF4 is ONE of the games that has quite LOW Texture memory usage , @ 1080p I'm barely using 2GB on Ultra 4xMSAA, I'd say a reinstall of his drivers may do the trick, usually the case for most performance issues.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I've got to second this.  Reinstall the drivers, make sure that your power option is set to high performance and not balanced, and I hope you're sure that your PSU was ready to handle SLI.  In short, reinstall, high performance, check your PSU.  If those don't work, then there might be a problem with the motherboard or one of the cards.

Oh signature time!  It's on now, gonna give ya somethin snarky and clever and think way too hard about this because I'm really concerned about what people on the internet think of me.  Better google some good quotes to put in here too.....oh wait I'm not a loser.

Are you just expecting too much?

Most benchmarks out there for 1440p60 say around 83FPS average.

All the SLI setting are correct and its being recognized. Also I tried updating the drivers and it said they where up to date. Dose each card carry its own driver?

Well with my single GTX 970 at high resolution 1440p I was getting about 85-100 dipping on the map. Now with 2 GTX 970's its just stuck at 104FPS on high settings. When I change it to ultra the FPS dropped to about 85-95FPS. I also ran a FuryX benchmark and that was stuck at 132FPS and my PC scored 7820. Whats a good benchmark I can use to see everything accurately?

OK so I thought this was just with GSync, I have the same issue, I guess it's just a driver issue,

I HAVE THE SAME THING! DON'T DO IT, IT IS TERRIBLE!!!

Also update, I just realized with the new driver update with SLI, in the "Manage 3D settings" it turned on VSync always AND it also turned the Maximize 3D performance OFF! Make sure you change those back if it changed them.

It's not ideal, but it should just cut it providing there is no daisy chained molex adapters going to any of the cards.

2 970s will really heat up the case - it's essentially a 600W PSU at this point

No, it wont. It's a terrible PSU and no one should ever buy it. Take note from someone that actually has it!

And update on what I did: It worked but now I get HUGE lag spikes that take me down to 0 FPS.

i'm wondering if the cx psu's are only bad on 115v . anyway, thats clearly not the problem with this as a psu does limit your fps.

if you want to see if the sli is scaling properly, then just run a synthetic benchmark like firestrike. also check you gpu usage and cpu usage. your gpu's should be near enough 100% if they are being fully used. check all the setting in the nvidia control panel and also maybe try using a different program to display your frame rate as well.

Well I'm currently updating my PSU and going with the AX760 instead.
