Nvidia gtx 980 (not ti) vs AMD fury (not x)

I have the choice to buy one of these cards, currently at Spain they both cost the same 550€. Which one if them is better for playing 1080p at 144hz?

I also want to note: some benchmarks show that the 980 overclocked surpasses the fury. Also nvidia has physics which is useful for games like metal gear rising revengeance, but AMD works a lot better in directx 12

We dont know yet if it work well with Directx 12... it just one game so we cant base result on them but i would get FURY.

Pleaseeee stop this. Dx12 is Miles away and one f... alpha benchmark sais nothing about it.

You realy should think about it one more time. If you can spend 550€ on a Card, sure you cant get another 100 for a Reference Ti somehow?

I also thought on the 980 ti but at Spain it costs 250€ more and I don't have that money to spend right now. I just want to get rid of my old crossfire configuration which works well, but I am fed up of crossfire problems.

I think the fury is a better choice tbh

Depending on silicon lottery, 980 can be neck and neck with a fury, but that's only if you get a great 980.

99% of the time the Fury will win.

This - if you get a 980 that can do 1600MHz (not a lot can) then you'll end up with the same card as a Fury

Just realised that the Sapphire fury doesn't have a dvi conector so I can't use the dvi dual channel cable and so I won't be able to play at 144hz. So I will have to chose the 980. I think that it will be better than my two r9 280 in crossfire

The crossfire should be stronger, but the 980 should be more stable. And the Fury should come with a DVI to HDMI adapter.

Unless it is an active adapter (which adds input lag and is super expensive) it will not be able to display 144hz. For that you need dual-link DVI-D. The adapter will only create single link.

What about mini display port to DVI? Wouldn't that work?

I THINK that any time you adapt to DVI and want over 60hz it needs to be an active adapter. Passive adapters just re-arrange the wires to fit the new connector type, but the DVI-D connector itself receives a certain digital signal that can only come from a DVI-D connection, so even going from an arguably better display port connection won't provide the full signal needed for high framerates.

When CrossFire is used yes. 2x R9 280 > 980

980 Ti is the best GPU currently available.

The Fury makes no sense as  a GPU for me. Its about $60 to $100 cheaper in the states than a Fury X or 980 Ti. Honestly, I would save up a bit more money and get a 980 Ti. Not sure what prices are in your area though so I could be wrong.

Right now at my area both r9 fury and gtx 980 cost around 550€ the fury x about 720€ and the gtx 980 ti 750-785€
