GTX 960 SLI

Lucksack

Hi, there is a smoking deal right on gtx 960.

I can get two cards for less money than one gtx 970. So im wondering, is it worth buying two of these cards and running them in SLI instead of one 970 or 980?

How will the cards perform in video rendering and such?

Here are the card thats on sale: https://www.komplett.no/product/835163/datautstyr/skjermkort/pci-express/msi-geforce-gtx-960-2gb#

970!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or if you can afford 980. Also some games coming up won't work with 2GB VRAM

Do you play football/soccer?

Cause you look like a left-back

If you can get two for less than a 970 then do it. They will perform on part with a 980.

1 don't buy a 960 buy a 280, 285 or 380 instead. (I didn't see you linked a card that was cheap)

2 No, don't get 2 mid tier cards and Xfire or SLI.

3 Get a 390x or 980 instead. (I didn't see the card)

Go for it, the only thing I have against it is 2GB of VRAM and the scaling in some games!

You will be limited by the 2GB VRAM.

For me it isn't smoking because they are clearing out the 2GB model because NVIDIA implemented that only the 4GB model will be manufactured.

2GB VRAM is piss poor nowadays if you want to max out games - the extra performance will be wasted.

Take this from someone running a MARS 760x2 and playing on a 4K screen. The 2GB frame buffer will definitely hold you back. Do yourselves a favor and get a GTX 970 or even better a GTX 980.

Even at 1080p, if you want to ultra newer games or older ones with a lot of mods, the 2gb vram is going to be a problem. Then you also get the sli thing. Nowadays, most games run fine on sli so I wouldn't say that it is to much of a deal breaker, but the upper gpu tends to get pretty hot so you better have a good air flow in your case. Also a single card, gives you more room to upgrade in the future. You can buy a second one and sli them or even sell it faster than selling two 960. I would also consider amd's 390 if I were you. It performs slightly better than the 970 for the same price (In canada the 390 seems to be 5 to 20$ cheaper). In any case, the 970 or the 390 are a better options in my opinion.
