What was the worst CPU+GPU combination you've seen?

Recommended Posts

My brother runs a 4670k and a 9800gt (well, I built the pc for him and the 9800gt was handed down from me lol) but even the integrated HD4600 is more than enough for him.

If hes using a 9800gt then the hd4600 will be faster lol, as long as you have 12+gbs of memory, and it is in dual channel at least 1866mhz.

If he has the 9800gtx though, then that is marginally faster than hd4600

xD

Only reason I wasn't on hd graphics was because my motherboard connector is shot lol.

Core i7 4770K with a GeForce 210

I have to imagine that would be worse than just using the integrated graphics

I once saw a 5960X and a GT 740. It was a completed build on PCPP :D

The amount of cringe was real :)

In both my testing and Tomshardware's hierarchy chart, the 9800gt is quite a bit faster. But it also consumes so much more power.

I think the intention was not to game, at least not anything demanding.  Other than the GPU it looks like a good build so probably being used for non-GPU intensive purposes

Dual Xeon 8-core E5-2670 2.6ghz chips paired with a 16mb Matrox Millennium G200.

...That's a joke, because the Matrox G200 actually still turns up, new, embedded into a LOT of high end Xeon processor servers.  They apparently STILL make the chips.  I was like 'Holy CRAP, Matrox is still a THING!?' when I first saw it.  Then I learned that they have a good foothold in enterprise still.

It did NOT run 3D Mark.  Though it did well on Cinebench.

I paired my i5-4590 to a geforce 210 from our previous pc.

Realized my integrated graphics was better.

Removed it the next day.

I have a Q6600 with a Titan X, due to an unfortunate soda spill during a lan requiring me to dig out parts to have a working computer.

My plan is to move components from computers around, so that they all step-up a GPU for whole family, but I haven't gotten around to it, especially with all the driver re-installs.  (Basically, take all the computers GPUS and move them around, pairing best CPU with best GPU, etc., but it would require me changing every single GPU)

That's.. just horrid.... and I have an 8350, I would never even think about that. My next build though, going intel all the way! :)

Thought that was impossible, matrox is pci. Then saw embedded.

I suppose I could run 3D Mark 2001 on it. :P  However since it's not multithreaded, it wouldn't perform much better than a high end single core Pentium 4 for the benchmark.
