UHD Gaming

Can anyone please share your experience with UHD Gaming (4k)?

Would it be worth it for me to buy 3 GTX 980ti's?

To game on the Asus PB287Q 60Hz 28" Monitor?

Is it orgasmic?

4k does look extremely beautiful, its absolutely pin sharp and definitely jizztastic, and I think an orgasm is 100% guarenteed

Its a toss up between going for a 144hz 1440p display and a 4k display since 144hz is also just extremely sexy having the game run flawlessly smooth is just a beautiful sight

(lets not forget the ultrawide 1440p displays too though support lacks)

Generally triple card set ups are not recommended, as you get diminishing returns from the 3rd card (but it will help at 4k)

Dual 980 Ti's will produce 60 FPS + in most games no need for 3.

I plan on most common games but as well as The Division, and Star Citizen

3 980tis don't make sense. 2 might, however you can pull it off with 2 r9 390xs no problem. I believe 4k is worth the upgrade, and not only for games.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Is there 4k monitors at 144hz and 1ms?

To be honest I sometimes get a little dizzy gaming at 4k when I'm new to a game - so many pixels! - but it's definitely immersive and beautiful. 3x980Tis might be a bit much, though.

I would only go for 2 cards at most.

Between 4K and 1440p 144Hz, I'd go for the latter. While 4K is beautiful in games, it is still very hard to run, even with top end hardware. Using the monitor as an everyday driver is a bit of a pain, as scaling still sucks.

Sadly not, we are currently limited to 60hz screens at 4k - gsync does help smooth everything out just in case though,

personally .. I would get 144hz 1440p, but thats just my preference

No. No available consumer connection can support 4K 144Hz right now. And response times don't matter for the most part. Don't be swayed by the 1ms marketing BS.

4k isn't the sweet spot for gaming right now.... It is better to get a 144hz 1440p monitor than a 4k 60hz.

980Ti SLI is enough for 1440p 144hz gaming.

Yeah, that's one thing I'm worried about, the scaling or super tiny icons, but I have good eyes :) So maybe i can get away with it? Lol..

3 980Tis would create more heat than 2x 390Xs would. Either way, 3 cards is not a worth while investment. The performance gains after 2 cards is very small, or sometimes non-existent.

1ms-5ms is good though. Yeah sometimes people market it much higher for 1ms, but sometimes the other specs make up for it. Just gotta shop right :) I try not to go above 5ms if I can help it though.

On a big monitor its less of an issue

you should see the 4k scaling on this 4k laptop...... the log in box for origin is about 3cm tall, amazingly the text is readable.. if my face is about 2 inches from the laptop and I  concentrate

Yeah but I feel like 1080p to 1440p isn't a big enough difference... I don't want to spend big money on a small upgrade, rather spend big money on a big upgrade.

Depends if you have other monitors. I can't deal with 4K for web browsing without scaling. But scaling causes some weird issues, so I just run the monitor at 1440P for now, both for daily use and games. I find the main benefit of 4K is the extra space for things like 3D modelling and editing, as well as native 4K video. Other than that, it's more of a hassle than it's worth, if you ask me.

trust me, 3 980tis would be a lot hotter than 2 390xs and 2 980tis would be really close.

It was only a pun :)

Also, i've looked at a few benches from 2 980Tis and 3, yes less benefit from 1 to 2, but still a good bit in some games, even as far as 10 extra frames, some games even 20 extra frames, every frame counts when it comes to a 4k build in my opinion, but yes. The cost is a bit hefty...

Even above 5ms is fine. There's no standard for measuring response time, and it's often misunderstood as being the same as imput lag or delay, which it is not. High response times can cause some motion blur with fast moving images, but it doesn't have anything to do with how quickly the monitor starts to refresh, it is the period it takes for colours to change.

I figured it was all measured upon actual response times via input responses.. But I guess I could be mistaken, but that's what I figured it would of been measured by.
