Haswell, BSOD, i5 4670, HD7950

Lethalviperr

Hi

I built my friend a gaming pc recently it is about 6-8weeks old and it has recently blue screened twice. Unable to remember what it was running when it first blue screened but the last time it was running killing floor, window media player and steam overlay with facebook open.
The event log has it as a kernel power 41 and code 0x8000000000000002

How do I trouble shoot/ stress test haswell?
I have heard that haswell has issues with voltages when stress testing? Is this true and if so what stress test programs are suitable to use on it? LinX, Prime95, IntelBurn TestV2?

System specs theses are the exact parts in the system.

Everything is running at stock speeds, the RAM is set to it's XMP so 1600mhz @ 1.5V 9-9-9-24

Thanks for any info about the error and or how to stress test haswell.  :D

Run prime 95 for 12-24 hours.

Run memtest 86 for 8-12 hours

Do both these tests and it will tell u about any errors. If none are found...Check out different methods by the other posts.

Folding for LTT since April 2016.

You can stress test Haswell with Intel Extreme Tuning.

Can you upload the dump file? Because Kernel Power 41 just tells that something unexpected happend

Maybe be some kind of driver problem. Are all drivers up to date and are all Windows updates installed?

Driver error can be the cause of lots of BSODs I'd check that 1st, then I'd check over clocks if there are any. NEXT I'd run Intel Extreme Burn Test for 12-24 hours, then MemTest to check the RAM.

Thanks for the replies, where is the dump file I couldn't find it so just looked in event viewer.
So running prime95 on haswell is fine?
Yep everything is up to date and got him to reboot it a bunch of times and run virus scans.

The dump file is located here: C:\Windows\Minidump

Also how far inbetween are the BSods?

Try with AIDA64 instead of prime95,  prime95 is not effective with haswell.
