lel the G3260 isn't unlocked so you can't overclock it like the G3258 can so G3258 all the way if that are your options

The 3260 is clocked higher but is locked.

If you have an overclockable board get the 3258.

Have you considered saving up for an i3?

Quote my post if you need me to respond.

Athlon X4 860K > Any Pentium

this is true, but the thing is there are many variables, if you plan to upgrade i would recommend the pentium until you do, if you never plan to upgrade then go for an 860k and a cheap fm2 motherboard

Main PC |CPU - i7-6700k|GPU - R9 290x tri-x 4gb|RAM - 16gb ddr4|MOBO - MSI z170 - A PRO|HDD - WD 1TB/240gb Sandisk |PSU - 700w Raidmax

Laptop |CPU - i7 4720hq|GPU - 960m 2gb|Ram - 8gb 2x4|Model - y50-70 Touch|SSD - 240gb Patriot drive|Display - 1920x1080 IPS touch

3260 is cheaper, faster and locked. To quote the cpu Nazi" No overclocking for you!"

As the basis of a cheap build for a CSGO addict either is a good choice, Newer AAA games coming...Forgetaboutit.

49 bucks vs 44 bucks. 3.2 ghz(overclockable) vs 3.6 and a bigger cache. What is the build planned for?

g3258 , if you have a good mobo, is far better than amd counterpart x4 860k, go watch some benchmark before talk, the 860k loose in every field, even in multicore operation, i bought that and i regret it, plus on intel platform you can do better upgrades in future, the fm2+ platform is  outdated, even the top end cpu, is not close to the worst i5 by intel, so go with that.

It all depends on what type of games are you planning to play. IF its the mainstream ones like dota 2, lol and CS:GO then G3258 is far better than the X4 860k and its not even close.

And both will struggle with AAA games. IT does not matter that the x4 860 has 4 cores the ipc of the chip is horrible and you will see no realworld benefits from the 4 cores.
