Is 1.3v on i5 3570k too much?

FakezZ

Hey guys I'm really new to overclocking! So I recently bought an h100i to cool my 3570k down and I started experimenting with it.So i got it at 4.8 ghz at 1.4v, but the temps (93 c after half an hour with prime95) were too high for my liking so I backed out a bit at 1.3v and 4.5 ghz.The temps after 30 min with prime95 at the small fft setting were 77 c at the hottest core which I think is not bad at all for IB.What I want to know is if that much voltage will degrade my cpu's lifespan by a lot.I read about electromigration on wikipedia and I got worried. So what do you guys think? Will my cpu last at these settings before I upgrade (2+ years) ?

:P there's people on OCN that run 1.55V everyday. Don't worry lol.. Your chip should last at least 5 years. I've been running 4.7@1.32V for months now and have had no problems. I also lowered my PLL voltage to 1.5V, that lowered my temps slightly. Lowering your PLL can make your rig unstable while idling so a good test would be to let it idle all night.

FYI - for Ivy Bridge Intel doesn't recommend anything over 1.4V for 7/24 use...

A guy on OCN had a sandy bridge chip degrade from being able to do 4.7GHz on 1.408V to needing 1.45V from seven months of 24/7 usage. I wouldn't recommend over 1.4V for every day usage without an offset and good cooling.
