TP-Link vs Asus

Be aware that the Unifi AC does not complain to all european guidelines, so a lot of the channels (not all) are disabled here.

In US / Cananda they migth be great, but here in Europa it's a complete other story. However there is a new version under development adressing this problem. Not sure if it's released yet.

I buy almost exclusively from TP Link and I have found the performance to be outstanding for the price. Never had any problems (that weren't from my stupidity). I've also seen businesses using TP Link equipment. Overall I've had a better experience with TP Link than with Netgear (who I had to deal with in the past).

Can't comment on ASUS.

hi i went to the shop looking for asus . whats the difference with RT-AC68U and DSL-68U
and is TP-Link D9 as good as the AC68U version by asus ?

lol, there is no need to be sarcastic, but I work with theese (and other business grade products) every day, and at home/on my freetime I help people with problems (both on forums and IRL) I have also tried/tested numerous of consumer grade products. What I've found out is that most consumer grade product is almost apple grade overpriced. The reason I recommend those business grade product is that I want people to get the best possible final result, I don't get any money whatsoever to write this, lol

That is why I don't understand why you feel the need to be so toxic and sarcastic. You are the reason why many people don't even care to write on forums like this one!

There was absolutly no sarcasm in my post though.

If you're buying a router today, get the Netgear R7000. Not only is it the best performing AC1900 router, it's the best value and has been for over 2 years now.

As you can see in the charts below, it performs quite a bit better than the RT-AC68U.

Take a look around SNB, it's a great site for this sort of thing. Here's the router charts and R7000 review.

http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/tools/rankers/router/view

http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-reviews/32239-ac1900-first-look-netgear-r7000-a-asus-rt-ac68u

I'd advise putting DD-WRT on it, gives you more access to what the hardware has to offer.

As for PCI Wi-Fi adapter. The TP-Link Archer T9E would be my vote, I have one myself. It's exactly the same performance wise as the Asus PCE-AC68 but it has as black PCB and heatsink. It's also quite a bit cheaper in the UK but that may vary for you depending on location. Antennas are always swappable.

is it worth trying netgear ? compared to asus and tp link . netgear is it good ?

Not sure what all of that other bullshit was that you copied but there's nothing wrong with Netgear - I will only use Netgear switches. As I said, for consumer choice it's a mash up between Asus and Netgear - Asus sport better software and features out of the box while Netgear have slightly better hardware (in some cases).

lastly for DL 68U i have a question

DSL 68U means is a modem and router right ? for fiber optic connections.

than is DSL 68U

faster than a modem (provided by my ISP) + Asus AC 68U ?

since DSL 68u is all in one will it be better and faster ?

or the default modem (provided by my ISP) +Asus AC68U is faster ?

powerline adapters seem to be something TP-link is very good at...

i have a pair of tp-link "green" powerlans, and a pair of -insert chinese brand here- powerlans.

the chinese powerlans are for the settop box, and are in a different subnet.

the tp-link powerlans used to bring the LAN enviroment to the exact same spot as the other powerlans, both of them following the exact same cable.

chinese brand: 5-8Mbit if lucky with insane ping

tp-link: 30-50Mbit with almost negligable ping.

I got TP-LINK AV200 Nano powerline adapter starter kit... And I get speeds that are almost equivalent to Ethernet. On LAN I got like 25-30 Mbit/s, with the powerline I get like 22-25 Mbit/s. And the ping is roughly the same.

Uhm, gigabit speeds have nothing to do with your network speed from your ISP...

Try running a speedtest that tests your speed against the router or a PC that is connected via cable!

I got that one because my speed is only 30 Mbit/s. Far from 200.

The point was that what u said makes no sense...

Why even compare to ethernet when doing a external speed test? If u really want to test it, you would need gigabit speeds (If testing with speedtest) or you would need to test it locally...

I get that you don't care since your internet speed isn't that high, but you don't know if OP has a NAS or smth (Then local speeds actually matter)

I have worked in IT for 18 years and found TP Link to be towards the budget end of the market and ASUS to be more reliable and offer support for longer on their products.  Asus are still producing firmware for the AC66U to this day.

As for adding an Antenna i dont think they are swappable but i could be wrong.  The ones that come with the router are more than adiquate I can max out my 200mb connection over wireless using a AC1200 adapter.

oh i think we misunderstood. what i was trying to say was currently im using adsl 2+ connection (not fiber optic) will Asus PCe ac68 be able to connect ? or it has to be only fiber connection  like using AC68U router by asus ? because i cant use AC68U router by asus as my connection isnt fiber optic. i could  buy DSL-AC68U though. not sure if its worth it.
