Just for fun thought I'd bust out the wheel and see how it holds up fully assembled. Finally fixed the sticky switch issue but ACC has a really annoying habit of flip flopping between key bind sets when you have two or more input devices, such as button boxes. Had to disable the navigation dpad on the G27 to stop it from pausing the game or popping up menus while I'm shifting or turning, which means you pretty much need a keyboard on standby. Other than that the 3d printing held up fine!

The race was fairly sub par, had some good racing in the first stint but I have no idea if the driver stint pit stop bug still exists or not. In hindsight I should have checked before hand but oh well, what's a little more fuel every stop? A lot, it turns out. Pace into the night increased by 2 seconds and near the end the car was fully fueled, about 80L more than I needed and no way to change it. Bugger. Im fairly certain theres a tire limit in Blancpain as well but it showed me as on set Dry 3 every stint even though I was changing every stop. Driver stints are still hecking stupid since IRL you're not supposed to exceed the drive time, yet that's an entirely non issue here.

CBA to mess around with a custom session so just stuck it into 6H endurance, which means no 911 Cup or Bernhard 911 GT3R which is what I wanted.

Bugger. Started last, could have finished top 10, finished P22. Might redo the race but otherwise good fun.

PC2 is now on SRS if you're looking for organized racing

http://www.simracingsystem.com/showthread.php?tid=6239

Also rfactor2 dlc is on sale! Just bought the endurance pack for 50% off and debating whether or not to grab sebring, though le mans is later down the road and maybe nords. Also six tatuus cars are coming including pro mazda.

Well there's 3 hours of VR recordings down the drain because I forgot to set the audio channel to the VR headset... bollocks.

Anyways RF2 was pretty fun even if it's fairly bland looking.

Also nords at night is a blast and terrifying at the same time.

Quick question for you folks who sim race.

What would be a decent sim for me to get as a novice racer with a Thrustmaster TMX wheel and the basic 2 pedal set that comes with it?

I'm not new to racing having played the likes of Raceroom, GTR Evo, Race 07, Grid Autosport, and some of the 2010 onwwards F1 games up to about 2016.

Despite the above I'm not that great when you up the settings to a full sim level, though I do run manual sequential gears and try to play with most gamer settings turned off where possible (Brake/steering aids, suggested lines..etc) and go cockpit/hood cam for realism.

The newest F1 is a must, but other than that I'm open to any kind of racing, with a preference being GT and touring type races over open wheel (Minus F1)

Online would be nice addition, but anything with a decent offline mode to get me started is preferred until I'm at a decent level to race online.

Thanks.

Project cars 2 is still a good all-rounder but assetto corsa is a top pick for the variety of content and online organized racing through SRS. If you're ok with only GT3 racing when ACC is suitable but there's not much content. F1 2018/2019 looks good as well.

As for future titles the one to look out for is Automobilista 2 which is similar to PC2; if you want you can try the first title but it is about as difficult as the original AC when you're getting started and there's not much vanilla content.

If you're ok with slightly more arcade then Crew 2 and Forza Horizon 4 can delivery many hours of entertainment although they are best played with a gamepad.

@chaozbandit

Cheers will take a look at Asseto corsa then.

Want a proper sim racing game, I mean I love arcade racers, but would like some fun using my wheel for more than Euro truck sim 2.

I'll stick with Euro for now, only have the base game so if anything I'd go for the dlc maps.

Dammit RF2. The one time I really get into it, and you break my stuff.

In other news sebring and the Oreca 07 are real fun to drive. The game still isnt the prettiest but it conveys track surface well, though I havent yet understood why everyone rags on its VR implementation as imo its not so different from AC. Anyways janky and inconsistent FFB on the G27 has managed to shear the wheel-side adapter clean off when its never been an issue in ACC or PC2. Bugger, have to print off a reinforced piece now.

I was really looking forward to flogging the n24 again today.

I didn't buy into it because of 3 very good reasons:

1. I don't have money.

2. I don't like the devs.

3. Most importantly, I've never been very interested in GT cars and I knew this would only have GT.

That's interesting. I'm surprised it's so basic. Didn't think about it being just a standard Momo steering wheel that's been CNC'd and had a plate screwed onto it. Not sure why it costs $30,000. Maybe the shift indicator is ludicrously expensive for some reason. For that kind of money I always figured they were custom made and molded.

If anybody wants one, I could make em pretty quickly.
