While I finally get around to editing some DP2 videos, here's some EGT5 content for those interested. With factory assists, these cars feel just a fraction slower than the existing GT2 cars but Im sure that will change with experience.

Some pics from Assetto after trying out some of the new content from DP2 last night.

This thing is a beast, through and through. One thing I can say about Assetto is they NAILED turbo engine sounds and turbo engine power delivery/surge characteristics to a T. Couldn't get enough of this car last night. It has too much power for it's own good, and I love it!

The SCG003 is hands down my favourite car from the pack, though for a car that costs $3 million in the full Corse spec and is basically designed to LMP2 spec, you'd assume it would be more than 1-2 seconds faster than a GT3 car but #nope. Then again it only races in the VLN, so hard to judge outright performance. Fun fact: macchinadue is capable of making well over 130db of sound.

There's a minor bug in the replay system for v1.3 in that the playback is slightly faster than real-time. More of an annoyance than anything, since I can easily fix it in post, but as a result for ~30 clips + audio syncing, these videos are taking longer to edit and render than they usually do.

 

 

The RUFs were just as fun in AC as they were in PCars, though neither had glowing rotors (neither did the M4s, which were only slightly behind) - the new splitter dynamics are pretty interesting on the RT12Rs, given how low they actually sit compared to the side sills.

 

Edit: Also the Huracan is a pig to drive and the car I love/hate because on some tracks it manages a blisteringly quick lap, on others it's frustratingly uncontrollable. Could be the tires, since once you get them overheated you basically have no control of the rear end at default settings (basically after a spin and off-track). The R8 in its default setup has too short gearing and too much aero, so it's noticeably slower on a long track like Spa.

The result of crashing last night due to exhaustion from recording all day + schoolwork, then waking up at 7 am to prep and edit two videos. Render initiated at 11 AM EST, let's see how long it takes for the FX8350 to bully through a 32 minute video at 1080p60 (the upload at 50/50 only takes ~20 min for a 4GB finished file, then YT takes anywhere from 1-3 hours to process)

Yeah, the SCG003 is a pretty awesome car. Though I find the engine sounds like it has rod knock and is about to grenade at full throttle, lol. 

 

The RT12R is just nuts! The AWD version is so fun to drift. However, after a long power slide, the tires overheat and recovery sometimes becomes near impossible. lol. Shorter turns are a breeze though. Managed to do a few Gymkana style backward drifts at the hair pin at Catalunya.  

 

The Huracan I found to be quite easy to drive, though I only did a lap of the ring with it. I went off a few times (maybe 2 or 3) but never spun and never overheated the tires. 

 

The Coutach was a pleasant surprised. I expected it to be more brutal and unforgiving like the F40, but it's actually quite tame. You can even hold a slide quite easily and recover. Love the sound of that V12. AC's sounds are top notch, to say the least. PCars may have better visuals/effects, but AC has sound and physics pretty well nailed.

@brownninja97 now that I'm reviewing it, I do hear that beeping / creaking you mentioned. My best guess is either the suspension or wastegate, or it's Kunos introducing chassis flex as "a new feature," however likely that is. It definitely doesn't sound like an alarm...

 

12:40 - 15:30 is where you can hear it, during my Spa lap and mostly through sector 2.

Ok, so last night I tried recording gameplay footage for the first time. Took a little bit of trial and error to get the settings to my liking (and so it didn't cripple my i5, lol) but I got it working well using OBS. Special thanks to @chaozbandit for taking the time to help me learn how to do this.

 

Here's a lap of Nordschleife in the notorious 98T with 100% boost from the turbos. You can see at the beginning, all the rubber I laid down from previous attempts (which ended in disaster). But, finally got a clean lap in. It's not a record breaking lap by any means, but it was a fun and a good work out.

The other night, I witnessed THE WORST start yet in a PCars online race. I wish I had been recording or saved the replay, but I had to quit the race early. 

 

It was a GT3 race at Road America and here's what went down: 

Qualified 5th out of a field of 14 players (only had time for about 2 hot laps and both were not great). Anyways, I'm sitting on the starting grid waiting for everyone to sync up. The lights come up, everyone starts revving. I guess someone either didn't have their foot on the clutch and had the car in gear (or just decided to be an ass) because from somewhere near the back of the grid comes this guy who's jumped the start and clearly doesn't give a you-know-what. Smash, smash, smash, he plows through one car after another, collecting them on the front of his car like a bulldozer in a landfill. Among the chaos, several other drivers decide to jump the start to avoid being pushed aside while the rest of us wait for the green, which only resulted in more collisions/confusion.

 

By the time the green dropped, the track in front and all around me looks like a war zone. Cars everywhere, spinning their tires, smashing into one another, even upside down. Somehow I squeezed through with only a few scratches. Tried to continue on with the race, but was laughing too much and kept making mistakes.
