Can a GTX 980 ti handle 4k at high settings?

BigMatt911

I've been contemplating getting my new GPU, and want to know if one GTX 980 ti will run smoothly at 4k.

No, at this point nothing can. (without SLI)

even at that, 4 titan-x will probably struggle. (let alone 980ti, even though they are about par)

edit: AAA games will most likely struggle, however, of course your League of Legends CS:GO will get 60 (maybe even 120/144) high 4k.

depends on the game and what your FPS requirements are. It will run the majority of games @4k with good FPS, but dont expect 60+ FPS in the latest/future games

Yes, it can. I do it on a significantly less powerful R9 290. And while some newer games are particularly intensive and will require more fine tuning of the settings, 90% of games I can run maxed out with ambient occlusion and depth of field (and of course AA, which is completely superfluous at 4k) off at a comfortable 60 fps - and I can barely tell if ambient occlusion is present or not to be honest, not saying there is no difference, but it makes the image slightly different as opposed to better in my opinion.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Currently got a 980ti and a 4670k at stock. Par a few games like witcher 3 and gta5 at full whack I still get 55-60+ at 4k.

Some lightweight games like America's Army I have no problem achieving 60 FPS 4k on my card (970)

*with DSR*

Triple A games you'd want triple SLI Titan X's to maintain FPS without fluctuations

If your thinking 144 FPS

thats a huge nope.

for the most part. No. Medium at max.

Honestly, go for either 1080p 144hz or whatever 1440p you can afford. 4k simply isn't worth it at this point in time.

1440p 144hz is the way to go honestly.
I've got a 4k monitor next to my 1440p monitor and the difference isn't much really, higher frame rates over higher resolution

Higher frame rate over higher resolution.

It can, but it depends. The question is, what games do you plan to game on?
