It makes your refresh rate higher (hz) for ex 60 hz to 75 hz

You can OC a monitor's refresh rate on some monitors.

It' possible but not recommended. If you don't care about the monitor breaking then go ahead and OC it.

Can get my 144hz to 174hz but it's kinda pointless.

It works. i overclocked my monitor to 90Hz. Its different if you have NVIDIA or AMD GPU(s) but its easily doable.

It's a thing, but you probabaly won't get over a 10hz difference. It looks much smoother to me when I did it but it's also not that great to do. Kills the monitor much faster.

I've got a dell p2815q 4k monitor at 30hz and it's terrible, if I blow it up I blow it up.. I'm gonna try overclocking it as soon as my DP to Dvi arrives

Higher frame rate over higher resolution.
