Computer Keeps Shutting Off

Go to solution Solved by BlueChinchillaEatingDorito,

The system doesn't show "press any key to boot from CD" and only shows "press f2 or DEL" to go to BIOS and in the bios, the CD shows up on the screen, but it isn't recognized. But seeing that booting from the other HDD doesn't work as well, I'm not sure what the problem is.

I wouldn't be surprised if booting from the HDD on a new computer doesn't work because it's not guaranteed that an install of Windows from one computer will work on another. In the BIOS, it'll only tell you what drives (HDD, DVD, etc.) are connected. They won't display if a CD is present in the drive or what the CD is. Pretty much as Deagon said, check your boot options and make sure your Windows disc or USB is made properly. If you have the Windows ISO, I would recommend using Microsoft's own utility to make a bootable Windows Install Disk.

I was building a new pc and everything seemed to be alright, but then when I tried to install windows to it, the system won't boot up to the installation.

Then so I tried to troubleshoot and when I plugged in an old hard drive to see if there is any problem, but then at the boot up screen, the blue screen popped up for like a sec and turned off.

I don't know how to fix this problem.

Help! :(

When you say the system won't boot up to the installation, what are you referring to? Does the system give you an option to "press any key to boot from CD"?

the system won't boot up to the installation.

What do you mean, are you using a CD? if so, go into the bios and set it to boot form the CD first

IF you are using a USB go into the BIOS and do the same thing but for the USB instead.

If you downloaded an installer and are trying to use it to install windows but then it restarted and won't go back into the installer you need to start over with a clean install.

Then so I tried to troubleshoot and when I plugged in an old hard drive to see if there is any problem,  but then at the boot up screen, the blue screen popped up for like a sec and turned off.

So are you trying to say that you put in an old drive that had windows on it and you tried to boot into windows and all you got was a blue screen? If so, if this drive is form another computer chances are windows won't boot. If it is the old drive from the computer you are trying to install to, and it won't boot the drive has probably sustained some sort of damage.

Troubleshooting a pc will make you believe in gremlins.
