Alright guys! So I've finially started some of the serious work on my new project! This one will be called Project Direct due to the fact that I will be delidding my 4770k and mounting an EK Supremacy waterblock directly onto the CPU die which I'm super excited for!

All of the parts are already ordered or I already have, but the majority of them are held up at PC Case Gear as they won't ship any of the order until they have every single part in stock (Waiting on Primochill tubing, fittings and coolant dyes), which is expected to be the 9th of September which is a major drag! But the specs are going to be as follows

i7 4770k

AsRock Z87M Extreme 4

8Gb Corsair Vengance low profile ram in white

2 1Tb WD Blue 2.5 inch HDD's in Raid 0 256Gb SanDisk SSD on it's way! will be using a 2Tb HHD attached to my network for backups and mass storage :D

Gigabyte 7870 (Very temporary, waiting on 9xxx series cards to see wether I'll get a 9970 or a 780)

600 Watt Silverstone Strider PSU

1x 240mm Coolgate 60mm Radiator

1x 120mm Coolgate 60mm Radiator

EK DCP 2.0 pump and res combo unit

EK Supremacy CPU block with a Precisemount kit for direct on die cooling!

3x Noiseblocker ELoop B12-P PWM fans for rads (Might just end up using B12-2 1300rpm fans)

Primochill acrylic tubing and compression fittings all round

EDIT- Silverstone PS07 case! forgot to add it first time around

All my sleeving has already been done in white Paracord from Extac and heatshrinkless bar one bit on the 24 pin where 2 wires merge into one. I had a few Silverstone Pre sleeved cables lying around aswell which will take care of the Sata/Molex connectors in the system :)

Heres a few shots of my sleeving that I've done up and some of the taping I've done for cuts to the motherboard tray for cable management.

And this shot here is of an Acrylic panel I've been working on that will sit in between the motherboard and motherboard tray and span the entire length of the case, The one I've got pictured is just a quick mock up. The finished version will be sanded along the back to give a smoked effect and lighting will be placed behind it in order to give a glow to the back of the case. On top of this I'll be drilling individual holes in the plexi for each of the individually sleeved cables so I can have nice tight groupings on the cables as well as keep everything straight and clean looking. I may also be making a panel for the floor to make the lighting along the floor not as intense. I still haven't made up my mind on this but :)

I won't have much content posted here in terms of actual hardware for a little while yet, but I thought I'ld start posting my progress in terms of mods and preparation to see some feedback and get some input into things I might be able to do to improve the build :D

What case is this?

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

Parts are already ordered for it :) I'll be pushing it pretty hard though

Yes but don't do the delidding on the CPU is what I meant.

Love the sleeving, dude! Curious on how this is going to turn out! :)

Yeah I got that part :) I just want to do something abit unique and interesting, I've delidded a 3570k before and got outstanding results, But this time around I want to run direct on die to see how much further I can push the CPU :D

Hope it comes out all pretty and shiny.

Cheers mate! :) I still might change up the sleeving as I'm not sure wether I should add colour to the build :) But I've got the next 3 weeks or so to make up my mind before I add any actual hardware to the build :)

Hey guys, Only a minor update, But this part is the one I'm excited for out of the entire system! and that's the EK Precisemount system so I can put my waterblock directly onto the 4770k's die without too much risk of damaging it :D I also got my EK 2.0 Pump and res combo and I'm in the process of sleeving that right now. Both of which I had to wait to ship here from the UK which took FOREVER and was one of the causes of the delays since I began work on the project a while back. (I apologize that it's all taking so long, kinda out of my control but)

The case is also out in the garage and I'm making a few cuts into the motherboard tray for better cable routing as well as making some headway with the plexi plate and cable routing holes :D On top of all that all the major hardware for the build has finally been shipped from PCCG so expect some BIG updates in the next few days in terms of testing out hardware and finally getting this thing assembled and ready for the tubing to arrive! So keen!

Yeah I did a 3570k in a previous build :) Delidding in itself is pretty easy, but I've not tried direct on die cooling yet which will I'm super keen for :D

Kudos to you if you do it successfully.

guys i know delidding is risky but the real danger in this, at least from my prespective, is mounting the block directly on the die

thats the real crazyness here! if you push the block 1mm further then you should.... *crack* bb GG

but i salute you for wanting to try it ehehe and i really hope it turns out great and you get alot of temperature drop

You wont regret going direct cooling

however keep in mind if you use a copper version of cpu block, the CLU will stain it and its really hard to get the stain off, by hard I mean hellish hard

its because I'm having that problem lol

That's what the EK precisemount kit is for :) its basically just different mounting screws that will put what EK feel the optimal pressure on the die is :D

I actually did get the copper version :/

Would the staining affect performance though? Cause if its just cosmetic and under the block I'll be fine with that.

Awesome a delid build. Post pics of the ugly silicon and compound then the beautiful clean die.

I missed my 300th post also, ill celebrate at 500 I guess.

Yeah I'm sure to post a ton of photos of the actual deliding process, There aren't to many logs on the net that show under the IHS before it's been cleaned out.

Party double as hard to make up for missing it at 500 then ;)

It wont effect the performance :)

I'm so satisfied with the delid and naked mounting

@4.5ghz 1.22v with ambient around 23c, I get 27-28c idle and 45-46c load

now I crank it up to 4.8ghz 1.34v, I get 30-31c idle, 55-56c load

you are going into the right path bud, nothing to worry about

Awesome, Hopefully I'll be able to hit abit higher than 4.8 even ;)

Cheers for the heads up on the staining too!
