Why do you NEED a server?

I will tell you a dedicated server is a hard task. But from running one you can learn lots of valuable skills

Really depends on what kind of server you want/need, care to elaborate?

if you're too lazy to say what you need then you're not going to get any help. it's like this

Build me this lego sculpture right now.

But do you even know what sculpture it is?

That's a stupid answer.

There are many kinds of servers, it depends on what you need it for.

And if you're too lazy to describe your reasoning for needing one then you probably are too impatient to build one aswell

If you want to know about servers I've set up a ton from simple minecraft servers, web servers, Active Directory, Mail servers, all the way to secret servers for the military. (see profile picture if you don't believe me)

But for a basic server you just need an old computer that has a connection to your network. Just install what ever services on it.

There you go. Easiest thing to do is get an old computer and have windows on it and create network drive shares.

Or folow this video if you want a better approach
