not take off the cooler on my 290x so I could RMA it

Put it back on, you can still RMA it. I RMA'd a gigabyte 7950 and an HIS R9 290 - both of which I'd removed the coolers on - no questions asked. As long as there's no damage to the coolers and it doesn't look like it's been taken apart or messed with, they will still RMA it for you.

Just curious, what 290x do you have and what's wrong with it?

I wish I'd have researched fans more.

I really don't care for these Corsair SP-140 fans on my radiator. Even with 2 push/pull, they're not as good as the failing single stock fan on the H90. I'm pretty sick of the red LEDs, too.

Do you have the quiet edition or performance edition SP140's? If you have the quiet editions, that might be the issue because they spin slower than the PE versions. RPM on rad fans can have a significant impact on temps.

I have a single SP120 PE in push on two H55's - each of which is cooling an R9 290 and the performance vs noise is very good, IMO.

there was a warranty void if removed sticker and they refused it. It was a reference saphire. It had a bad MOSFET and literally burned up and melted.

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

970 is still a really good card. The Vram issue is overblown. If you're gaming at 1080p, then you wouldn't have gained any performance by going with a 390 instead. It's only in the higher resolutions that it pulls ahead of the 970.

I wish I would have gone with the xeon.

I wish I would have just bought a new motherboard instead of the ram for this one.

I wish I would have waited for two weeks for a 980ti.

Get an EVGA GS 650W or XFX XTR 650 rather than the AX760. So overpriced... what was I thinking?

Doesn't apply to this rig, but when I used to own a Mac I bought a Magic Mouse for gaming on the thing... I was dumb :D

Well 14 of my clients were running Antec PSUs of different models, but they overvolted the systems, but my specific PSU was that one, yes.

Some of my clients are running Corsair, Seasonic, And Delta (yes, some of my consumer clients have a redundant psu). It is only the Antecs that are having an issue.

I'm going to say the GTX 970 is the best value card as of right now IMO. Maybe you can sell it, then use the money to get a 970? It's a really nice card.

I think the issue is how they somehow ''nerf'' previous generation cards. Honestly as of now the R9 390 is the best long term investment to make. The 970 is worth it if you want MGS V, that's about it.

Antec doesn't "make" their PSUs, they have OEMs to do that. The vast majority of Antec PSUs are actually quite good. Saing you don't trust Antec because of exclusively that PSU is like discarding many other brands such as Corsair/EVGA/Seasonic as Seasonic is the OEM of the PSU. You're just very unlucky with them.
