@Statik I forgot about that with knives. I know that’s why I got the AK with a bayonet. Messy & scary. 

I’m not carrying a knife. 

 

Statik, @Aimi I’ve decided to get the pepper spray. Until I get CCW, that’s all I will carry. It will have powerful pepper spray. It will also have CS gas, so if the MP guys were right about pepper spray, Ive got it, if they were wrong... well the pepper spray is already in there. UV dye too. 

 

Hopefully the office opens up soon. I’m almost done with my paperwork to get my permit.

Same here, especially since both of my EDC's lack external safeties.  Though one does have a hammer striker, so it's easy to tell if the trigger is being depressed.

Others have already said it, but don't risk your life on this.  Some people are crazy and will come at you anyway, and if they're on drugs, even a real gun may not stop them immediately.  Also, unless you're close enough for hand-to-hand combat, it's extremely unlikely you could hit them in the eyes.  And if you're that close, it's way too late to think about using the BB/pellet gun.  You could get lucky, but I wouldn't chance it.

 

On that topic, I did finally pick me up an airsoft gun for plinking.  It's modeled after the CZ P-09.  Hopefully I'll get it end of this week and be able to play around with it.  I just need to swing by the hardware store and pick up some C02 cartridges.  Maybe I'll take it to the range, so it can have some play time with it's big brother, my H&K P2000.

The CO2 pistols kick pretty hard sometimes. You might be surprised by the recoil. Let me know what you think.

Well, that turned out to be a bust.  I found some CO2 cartridges at Home Depot that were for some sort of drain cleaning kit.  Unfortunately, they were physically too small to fit into the compartment.  Looks like I'm ordering them online after all.

It's not a demonstration of skill; rather it's to make people laugh.  Done with a .308 rifle, while prone, and the target was only 50 or so yards from me.  The key to starting the art work is the nose.  Nail the nose shot and work from there.

i wouldn’t consider .223 a baby bullet, but yes I have doesn’t kick as bad as you would expect. The post penetration damage is insane on soft targets.

Some crack head told me you couldn’t go through a whole box of like 20 Rds without your shoulder being sore with Beowulf. Is that true or is the gun fun as hell? 

 

.223 & 5.56 do have the velocity but if I’m going for AP, I think .308 is the way to go. 

 

Im looking at a second rifle & 90% of lists say to get an AR-15, but I’ve seen too many issues with .223/5.56 rifles that I’m skeptical of that round. I’ll look into guns a lot more before I buy any new rifles though. I’m having fun with my AK & waiting on my pistol permit so I’m set for the time being.

.50 Beowulf doesn't often come in high enough pressure loadings for it to be really painful. Of course since it's a crackhead telling you, I'm not surprised he got hurt.

Also, with every problem 1 AR in .223/5.56, there's 100 that operate perfectly fine. A lot of issues you might find in such ARs is either cheap, low quality parts, or garbage ammo.

Define issues? .223/5.56 is like the most common chambering in AR-15... Also just out of curiosity why are you interested in a platform purely for AP? Seems kind of pointless.

I am kicking around the idea of building a .458 upper, or maybe a .350 Legend instead. I only ever take my AR out for hunting feral hogs though and .223 is sufficient, but something with a bit more energy would be better for the big ones.

The one I put rounds through was nothing. More recoil than a .223 or a 7.62x39, but nothing bad. It's not like pulling the trigger on a .338 Win Mag or something crazy. It did have a pretty ludicrous brake on it, but I don't think it really needed it, the weight probably helped more than anything.
