The thing is, we don't even need to, because the 2nd specifically addresses that the right belongs to the people, not to the militia.  Just as the 4th amendment says the right belongs to the people, the 1st amendment says the right belongs to the people, and likewise the 9th and 10th amendments.

 

People need to stop treating our rights as if they're privileges granted by the government.  The fact that our rights are inherently ours and not granted by government, is the very thing that sets us apart from every other nation in history.

 

Sorry for the rant, but this is a matter I'm quite passionate about (in case there was any confusion ).

In the context of the era and constitution, the militia is simply an army of the people, by the people, for the people. And regardless of the definition, the constitution states that it is the right of the people, not the militia. Every supporting piece to the constitution  supports this.

I'm not the one that needs convincing. I'm just pointing out that, for the vast majority of anti-2a individuals, that is the first point they like to bring up. I have to believe we would have been better off if the second amendment never mentioned the militia, just the right of the people.

Oh, I realize that, I mostly just wrote that out because not every pro-2A person actually understands, that the militia portion of the amendment has zero bearing on our right.

The main differences between that and a bump stock rifle are that the action is autoloading, and the Ithica design is internal.

By your definition, a Mosin Nagant is a slam fire rifle, because if you cycle the bolt whilst holding the trigger down, it will fire every time.

 

I HIGHLY recommend that no one do this with a Mosin Nagant. Very much a bad idea.

Hello there gun friends. I need some recommendations. 

 

I have been considering getting a revolver to add to my collection and I would like some recommendations. I'm not super picky but I do prefer large barrels. Bull barrels are kind of the style I like. Below is a quick list of some "nice to haves" but none of them are set in stone.

 

- .38 or larger would be nice

- 5+ round capacity 

- a healthy weight would be nice. I'm not into the super light models

 

I have looked at some options in the past and naturally the ones that would be ideal all cost an arm and a leg. If we could reduce it to just an arm or a leg that would be appreciated. I don't have a firm budget in mind as I am still in the idea stage but something under 700usd would be great.

 

What should I take a look at?

Count me as another vote for the GP100. I have one and it's been a fantastic gun. I really need to break that out of the safe more often.

Smith and Wesson makes nice revolvers, a tad nicer than Ruger's GP100 but also a tad more expensive.

Depends on the model. The one I was thinking about getting wasn't much more expensive than a GP100 with 6in barrel.

Built a new AR. Got the lower parts for Christmas and the upper parts for my birthday.

Entire rifle took about 40 minutes to build. Longest part was shimming the barrel nut.

 

But I like this particular FDE/"FDE"/Black scheme. I might make a 16" upper for this rifle as well.

 

But now I have one lower remaining,a and I'm not entirely sure what I want to do. I might get a long stroke piston upper for it.
