My first read of that was "(North Dakota) has good (South Dakota) protection laws", which had me very confused for a moment. xD

Anywho, just wanted to post some pics of my "new" CETME .308 rifle.  Got it secondhand from another member of a gun owners group I'm a part of.  The CETME (Century Arms) rifles go for around $600 new, which is what I paid for this used, but he also threw in 14 20-round magazines and about 100 rounds of ammo (I fired through ~30 rounds of that before buying it, just to try it out).  It has a few minor issues (magazine release is pretty hard to push when a mag is loaded), but I'm sure a good gunsmith can fix that.  Without further ado:

You can also see an optic mount next to the magazines, and beside that is an attachable bayonet (I have no intention of using that, it just came with it).

It has a super light trigger, too.  I accidentally burst fired a couple times (e.g. bump stock style) and thought maybe I was buying an illegally modified fully automatic until I realized what was happening.  The irony is, the local city council in Lincoln voted to ban those "evil" bump stocks.  I wonder what they'd make of my gun if they knew it could bump stock without a bump stock?  On second thought, I think I'll not tell them.  They'd probably find a way to ban it.

Common saying.

Mostly about age, and my own retort regarding the HK Slap and anything not an MP5/K

That's weird, bro. It doesn't have to be the best way to get the task done, it can be fun for the sake of fun.

It's disappointing with the HK91/93. Can't speak of the Kel Tec RFB. Satisfying on the MP5/K and the MP40.

I don't enjoy HK rifles much in general. IMO, their best rifle, the HK416, is still just an M4. Great pistols, good 'SMGs.'

Range report.

My 9mm 1911 is fun, extremely low recoil, but the first round almost always nose dives if the mag is loaded with more than 8 rounds. Few failures to extract. I'll reassess it after around 500 rounds, see if it's just a break in problem.

The TP9SFx is better than expected, trigger didn't fight at all, clean break, and short recent. Slightly more recoil than the 1911, but it was crisp and subsequent shots were easy. No malfunction with 115 or 124gr.

I've fired three different types of cartridges with my GP100 6" .357. Functioned perfectly.

The first rounds were HSM Cowboy Action cartridges. 158 grain Semi wadcutter lead. These puppies recoiled the hardest, and the cases were the hottest.

Then there were the Sig Elite Performance FMJs. 125 grain wadcutters. The fresh brass could be held in the hand without burning you, though uncomfortable to do so.

Finally, Sellier & Bellot 158 grain, partial metal jacket wadcutters. These were completely indistinguishable from the 125 gr Sig FMJs in terms of recoil. Too hot to hold on to, but not hot enough to not be handled quickly.

The .357 recoil was tested by mixing two types of rounds, spinning the chambers, and closing the action.

I've also tried steel cased 6.5 Grendel. Feeding issues and accuracy inconsistencies abound.

Father's side charging AR15 also suffered failure at the range, the bolt handle sheared off sometime during the final magazine. Not even 100 rounds in.

Some time ago I ordered some police trade in magazines for my P226.

I finally got them a couple weeks ago and while giving them a good cleaning I noticed that they are Clinton ban era magazines.

For those who don't know from 1993 to 2004 there was a federal ban on "assault weapons" and magazines larger than 10 rounds for civilians.

Anyway, while not as collectable as war era gear, I think it is kind of cool having something that says that it is restricted and for law enforcement or government use only.

The MFG date on them puts them as they very, very, tail end of the ban (pretty much the month ban was lifted).

I have not gotten to try then out yet as the last time I went to the range I had a total brain fart and forgot them at home.

What I have noticed about them is that the spring are stiffer than my Sig made mags but the followers slides in the mag much more smoothly.

The mags are made by Mec-Gar (they are generally known for making good mags and they often supply Sig themselves with magazines) and the two 18 round Mec-Gar mags I own already for the 226 have been 100% reliable after a few hundred round, so I am fairly confident these should work just fine.

  • 2 weeks later...

Went to a state where guns aren’t 90% illegal. Had tons of fun with a 357 revolver, some 9mm ruger compact pistol & an AR-15 with a 30 round clipazine and baby killing rounds.

The pistol & revolver had a visible serial number so I deleted it.

Theyre not my guns so I don’t want to post those online.

My personal opinion(have not owned or fired a 1911): they should be kept in .38 and .45 calibers.

.45 is a definite yes. Every .45 1911 I've fired was dead reliable.

.38, fuck no.

9mm so far is only for a range toy. My Rock Island Armory has feed issues with more than 8 in the mag, negating a huge reason to switch to 9mm. Apparently Springfield Armory makes a dead reliable 9mm.

I want to get a 10mm to try, as it's the same length as .45ACP, so it shouldn't have feed issues.

What don't you like about the .38? Slightly less stopping power than a .45?

Loud as hell and wimpy. I'd sooner take a .22WMR because Keltec offers a pistol that holds 30 of them fuckers.

But give me 9mm Xtreme Penetrators, 357 Magnum, or 45 ACP.

I have no opinion on 38 Special, 44 Special, 44 Magnum, 454 Casull, 460 S&W, or 45 Colt.

.45 ACP is great, I love to fire it.

From a full sized handgun.

For my concealed carry though..  I'm trading my uncle my compact 1911 for a couple of 9mm pistols.  I already have a fullsized 1911 so I don't feel bad about trading.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

Yeah, but perhaps I don't want whatever is on the other end to get back up after the first shot.

Well, got my build done after 8 months. Still would like to change a few things on it but that can wait till later. The build is a 7.62x39 since I love that round and ammo is cheap. I can run what ever ammo I want and it just runs, no issues so far.

Build List:
-Anderson Upper/Lower
-Luth AR Stock
-Anderson lower Parts kit
-Geissele Rapid Fire Trigger (B-GRF)
-Cryptic Coating BCG in Mystic Black
-C-Products Mag
-Odin Works Adjustable Gas Block
-LibertyCans Muzzle Brake
-Bear Creek Arsenal 16" Carbine Length Barrel (thinking about changing it to a rifle length Gas tube)
-ATN X-Sight II 5x20 Day/Night scope
