Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

SOCOM is replacin their 7.62NATO rifles and LMGs for 6.5 Creedmoor counterparts.

Hope that drives the price down somewhat.

Hmm... That should mean a 6.5CM chambered SCAR, which would be sweet.

don't count on it. all it takes (as it almost always has in the past) is a barrel replacement. The SCAR is still going to be wildly expensive for what it is. Same with the ACR.

I'm with Knight on this. The SCAR doesn't seem like a weapon system worth converting for military OR civi market.

The whole reason we have the SCAR17 is because of a DOD requirement. This will obviously drive a new DOD requirement, what makes you think that wont trickle down? FN is historically very good at making civy legal versions of their military contract weapons, look at the 249S for example.

yeah, let's take a look at a $8000 belt fed semi-automatic with no hope in hell of ever being converted to full-auto...

...or perhaps we shouldn't.

This article talks specifically about the FN MK20 (DMR designated SCAR) in 6.5CM... Just pointing that out.

The SCAR is a direct result of a military procurement program.

Huh? You know as well as I do that the feds closed the MG registry in 1986... So you're complaint is that you cant convert a new belt fed to full auto because the manufacturer is somehow mean?

LOL Come on now.

no, my complaint is that it's an $8000 semi-auto who's only claim to fame is that it looks like the Full-auto M249. It doesn't do *anything* spectacularly. Now if the registry WAS open for civilian conversion... It's still retarded. $8000 for a base that would require additional conversion processes (which is 100% impossible on the FN249S anyway) is pretty ridiculous, which makes it a ridiculous firearm to own.

No argument there. I didn't say I would buy one, I was simply pointing out that it is available should you decide you wanted one.

The RPD cost roughly $2400, we apmost got an MG42 for $3200.

Which is pretty damn good when slightly better than meh ARs gp for $2K.

I don’t mean to get off topic, but I just noticed your location.  You’re in North Dakota also?

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

Belts are illegal in my state (Even the links for belts... "Magazine with capacity over 10 boolet")

Do you have cloth belts in your state? I couldn't bear to pick up all the stupid links after burning 300~ rounds or something. Reloading that with links must be annoying.

RPD links don't disintegrate, they just split in half at 50 rounds.

I didn't know that. That's actually really convenient IMO for people that want to use it more than 1 time.

Most metal machine gun belts are meant to only be used once. Cloth belts fray and are often worthless after 4-6 uses.

Fun fact, the STANAG magazine, AKA the GI AR15 magazine, was originally made to be an as cheap as possible, single use throw away as well, but it was built too well to do that.

I understand cloth belts wearing out. I was actually thinking about that with my response.

Some West Point cadets at the painball classic in New York were telling me it costs like 10 US cents to produce a STANAG m16 magazine. (Someone cross reference before quoting me.) Likely because the US military buys bajillions of them at once.

Glad they're good enough for reuse for recreational sake!

well they are just stamped sheet metal with a spring and some injection molded plastic. They are pumped out by the thousands daily.

fun fact: the M249/FN249S can also use STANAG magazines in place of disintegrating links.

So, someone from a local gun owners group I recently joined is offering a CETME .308 rifle with 12 or 13 20-round magazines (3 of them already filled) for $600.  What do you guys think of this rifle?  I found it online new for around the same price, but without all the extra magazines.  The reviews I've seen online were mixed, some were very pleased while others were very angry about the flaws.  Given that the individual I'll be buying it from has shot it, I would presume that this one fires okay.

I'm mostly curious if any of you have tried it before or not, and/or what your experience is working with Century Arms rifles.

(this is a picture of the actual rifle, I'll be seeing it in person next month when we have a chance to meet up)

I've got an American PTR, which is a one to one clone of the HK's civi version.

I don't like it. Kicks high, recoils excessively hard, feed issues with actual .308 rounds, and mangles brass to hell. I'd take an AR10, M14, or FN L1A1 before that HK design.

My plan was to run 7.62x51 NATO through it - instead of .308 - if I bought it.
