Rifling. That is the difference between rifles and shotguns in the eyes of the law.

I meant would it actually make a difference in the shooting, given that a shotgun typically only fires pellets.

That's not really relevant to the question.

 

But rifling affects the spread pattern of shot shell.

Just my guess but it would probably considered a caliber over gauge then.  IIRC, there's a legal limit on how big a caliber can be with civilian rifles before it becomes an NFA item.

But that's if the ATF is being anal that week and decides, "this 12 gauge rifle will now be considered .73 caliber since it's using rifling, making it a rifle."

Yeah rifling causes more spread due to the additional spin. I'm also still curious what happens when a rifled slug is fired out of a rifled barrel.

They are often referred to as slug guns.

Mossberg sells a version of their 500 model called the Slugster.

To anyone not stupid enough to judge that by rifling (or lack thereof), barrel length, overall length, and stock. I'm not if a chicken is a chicken if it happens to be able to fly to a NORMAL  person, I'm asking if it is according to a half witted pencil pusher.

 

I mean, look at the 590 Shockwave, Tac 13, and Tac 14. Those aren't shotguns in the eye of the law because the barrels are <18.5", no stock, and 26" OAL.

The stock got here, installed it today.  Project is coming along nicely.  I gotta figure out how to take off the butt stock... put a two liter there (or some better cylindrical container in the same shape), and I need to get a front sight.  I also need to mod the upper picatinny rail, which is why I haven’t installed it yet

Not sure, says it's pretty heat resistant on the cans.  Either way it's not going to be a rifle that I shoot often, it's more of just a fun project to do.

Got three guns to break in, my Canik, the FEG, and my CETME.  Hyped as fuck.

 

Also gonna bring the GSG just to shoot it some.

Yes it makes a difference.  Some states have firearm seasons that are only shotgun.  By using a rifled barrel one can shoot sabot slugs with increased accuracy over a longer distance when compared to a rifled slug out of a smooth barrel. 

 

It's still classified as a shotgun.

Fired the CETME, Canik, PA-63, and the GSG today.  

 

PA-63 is a snappy little fuck, but I like it.

Canik is nice as hell.

GSG I fired before, nice experience every time.

CETME, well the G3/CETME was my dream rifle for so long, I’ve fired it before many times, and I enjoyed it so fucking much.  I easily put 100 rounds through it today.
