Yeah I'm going to wait since I've already waited this long, but it seems like dream is dying fast with the X34.

I'm even considering not getting the LG ultrawide and going with the Acer XB270HU of the LG had Gsync then I would get it

I'm a bit upset about this too. I've waited for so long. Some people in that forum post are saying it's 60Hz out of the box, not even 75. I don't know if that's true or not.

At this point I want to either wait for the Asus 34" Ultrawide (which probably has the same issue), or wait for the Asus PG279Q (rumored to be 165Hz w/ Gsync).

Either way, I'm a little sick of waiting and almost want to just get the Acer XB270HU. 27" 144Hz 1440p IPS w/ Gsync sounds pretty good and I want to say the 165Hz might be an "only if you Overclock" problem on the PG279Q too and that's really the only difference.

I was really looking forward to moving to 21:9  3440x1440 though. I'll wait it out and see more reviews and maybe we'll actually get a release date some day soon. Waiting for the item to even show up on Amazon as "Shipping in 3 - 5 Weeks" ... not even that far yet.

We'll see...

One of our shops put a spec that it's 75Hz.Nothing else. And several times I can't catch Acer rep on Place in the biggest comp store. :)

Anything 34inches big with IPS and G-sync is going to be expensive for sure.  We've seen they can do an IPS g-sync and they now have to make it bigger.  75 or 100Hz, it is still going to be better than 60.    I haven't played or seen 4k so I'm not sure how that is realy going to look.

If they had a 34 inch curved with G-sync and 2-3k with IPS i'd buy it in a heart beat.. I don't NEED 4k but I do need G-Sync.

I have the ROG Swift with 2k, 144mz and G-sync and it works perfectly.

I got a direct message in Twitter from Acer. They said the Predator x34 will be released mid-October to North America. No price given.

It's 60hz and can be overclocked (on your own risk) up to 100hz.

Had to return mine cuz the coil whine on 90-100hz became unbearable.

Would you not recommend this monitor then, I might as well either stick with the XB270HU I have ordered or get the LG decisions decisions :)

Now this doesn't make any sense, every spec even the ones on Acer's website has stated it is 75Hz and rumors have it at 100hz.  If they advertise it as 100Hz without the little * (original at 60 overclock at your own risk) then they are advertising falsely.  Right now they are saying 75Hz and that is what I would expect at this point, without overclocking.

The stock panel that they're using is the LG which is 60hz. I suspect the reason people are getting coil whine and other issues because they have to overclock an additional 40hz as opposed to 25 if indeed it was 75hz to begin with. Acer is jerking us around and it seems like it's going to be a disaster warranty wise.

I haven't seen the article that shows acer saying overclock at own risk. If anyone has a link at hand can you repost it?

It is in X34 manual.

Wow...  They advertise 75Hz, yet warn you if you do put it to 75Hz you may void your warranty.  This may be my breaking point....

Of cousre using g-sync there is going to be a natural overclock right there and it is my hope that using the g-sync panel and using your GPU, the monitor will be able to handle it with little issues.  Still....

I think Asus is also using like Acer the G-sync capabilities to get it over clocked to 100hz.  December... hmmmmm

Hey guys

I got my X34 today... living in Austria, ordered from Alternate last Wednesday (1336,90€)

(my gaming rig wasn't delivered yet, so I could only connect it via HDMI to my iMac => no Display-Port => 1080p max => 60Hz)

As I couldn't connect the display via Display-Port, I can't say anything regarding coil whine of 60Hz+ I've read about or the color bending problem some people are complaining about ... all I can say:

I've got severe backlight-bleeding (as you can see in the pictures) in the left corners, this monitor is going back to Acer

It sounds like if you have a GTX 700 series or higher, you can use Gsync that will enable 100hz, that is the way ASUS seem to be marketing it now.

Have you been able to use the monitor much yet? I'm trying to decide between 16:9 1440p 144hz or this monitor thanks :)

  • 3 months later...

Hello,

I have an iMac 27 late 2012. Was thinking of getting an acer predator x34 as well for an external monitor. Is the GTX 680M compatible with the predator x34? Have you gotten around making it 1440p? Also thinking of using this for console gaming (ps4) but more heavy on work. Thanks in advance.
