"Xbox One Can Do 4K Gaming"

No its not, it is upscaled. The xbox one is confirmed to run bf4 720p@60fps. So how is it going to run games at native 4k resolution?

It won't be native, the textures won't run at that resolution. It will just 'support the output'.

 

Just like you can play on a 1080p display with an XBOX 360, but the textures are nowhere near that.

All of it will be upscaled. There are doubts right now of even running 1080p natively.

Just how, i wonder, my friend has a radeon 7770, he struggles badly with battlefield 3, in 5 years time games will be a lot more demanding, how does a 7770+mantle handle that, he told me that he gets less then 30fps with crysis 3 720p minimum settings. They are pushing it. Maybe 4k with small games like asteroids. As for the console world i think the steam box has won.

Maybe it can run some 4k 2D indie games at that resolution. What they will mainly be referring to is video playback and general support. maybe the UI will run at the native screen resolution.

If FPS scales linearly, then based on bf4 720p@60fps:

bf4 4k@5.687fps.

The console peasants will eat this up. They're so easily tricked by marketing schemes. Like someone else in this thread said, it will support the output to a 4K TV/Monitor, but it will not, under any circumstances be able to to play any game at 4K.
