Enderman

I know that this thread is old, but ive got some 23kV Xeon bulbs lying around, could try to do something with those. Those are ALOT brighter than this LED.

Yeah short arc bulbs a lot brighter, but they have a lot of down sides such as high heat, voltage, ozone, power consumption, etc.

That's why I stick with LED :)

Its not like the voltage is a issue, it has a transformer/ballast coming with it, its a car bulb. 12 volts in - 23kV out. Yes, the heat is a problem, thats why its not really recommended to use plastic diffusers or whatever you call them with the bulbs. Also, i dont know if it produces ozone, the arc is made in a wery small chamber filled with Xenon gas. Theres no arc thats happening in free-air. The power consumption might be a issue tho, its typical power requirements are 12 Volts and 3-5 Amps - thats 36-60 Watts.

Even the ballast is a pretty small unit, so it wouldnt be a big unit if i built one.

With high intensity bulbs like the HBO103W/2 they produce a ton of UV light, which then produces ozone within the light.

Also the risk of explosion, arc wander, and everything else is also a problem.
