Yellow build with AF140/120

Kermit

Hello, sorry if this isn't the cleanest post (on iPhone)

I'm building a yellow-themed pc for a friend, complete with a 290x Lightning and asrock z87 formula

I've been looking at similar builds, one actually on LTT forums, and saw AF140 with yellow rings. My build is nearly exact to this one: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/95937-the-lightning-350d-build-update-4314/

Do you have to plasti-dip the rings or do they sell yellow rings? Thanks

CPU: Intel i5-2400 Mobo: ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z RAM: 8GB G.Skill DDR3 1333MHz GPU: Sapphire R9 280x Tri-X Case Corsair Obsidian Series 350D PSU: EVGA 500w 80+ Certified

Plasti-dip or spray paint. They came with white, red and blue rings AFAIK.

Jayztwocents painted them, they don't sell yellow rings but they should be easy enough to paint.

And if you're into nerd porn, have a look at JayZ skunkwork, probably the prettiest yellow on black build without going completely overboard......Of course those waterblocks are wrapped around three titan X's....is it still not overboard?

Any prep work involved or can I just take the rings and spray

My guess would be very fine sandpaper or something like a Scotch brite. I think that Jay used the red brite to ruff up the surface.

A friend of mine just painted the white rings yellow, turned out great. I am fairly sure that you have to paint them yourself, AFAIK, nobody makes them

I want to say no, because there's minimal surface area.

With platidip you're fine. with engine enamel (what I would use) scuff up the surface with some fine grit sandpaper, spray it with white primer, and then yellow engine enamel.
