Anyone know how to care for a hawk?

Avericious

Or whatever this bird happens to be?

6pIMtVY.jpg

Not wanting to have it euthanized for nothing, I've opted to nurture this bird back to health.

It does not seem to have any broken bones or injuries. It does not squawk or resist being moved by hand. So it would seem logical to me that it is fatigue or something.

What should I feed it? Currently I've just defaulted to raw beef and water.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would call a professional animal care expert such as a vet, I doubt you'd get a better answer here.

I asked the only veterinarian in town and they did not know. I am just shooting in the dark here and hoping someone on here has some sort of experience.

And how did you find it?

It can stretch it's wings and it did try to fly unsuccessfully when I found it. I am reasonably sure there are no broken bones via careful physical examination. Though I am no veterinarian so I cannot be entirely sure. I found it struggling to fly in my driveway, I heard the noise through my window.

I have a Macaw and never once used glove or sleeve. But with a hawk/wild amimal I would. Be sure to wash your hands and such before and after. Don't want to get sick or get it sick

there are two things you can do. you can contact your local vet/shelter/animal control if you want them to come pick it up. They will most likely inspect the bird to see if it is in good health and able to recover. The other thing you can do is contact your local falconry organization. They often know other people who would be able to take adequate care for the bird. I dont know about norway but I know in the US falconry-ers are only allowed to own the bird for a few months out of the year before the bird must be returned to the wild, this is to ensure that the birds are not domesticated.

you may want to get rid of the bird fast as it is apparently illegal to house such bird.

Here is link to said bird and its identification. I believe it is a peregrine. according to map they are in norway.

keep feeding it , that's all you can do right now if possible keep a light source near to keep it warm, preferably with an actual old school light bulb which can provide heat, Plus you might wanna layer the cloth with some tissues,  do try to feed it water every 3 hours or so if you can, use a sponge or some clean cloth tied to stick dipped in water to handle it safely  ,

Details separate people.

Ah, we have peregrines over here, That is my only input as I have no idea what to do with a bird other than I know that when I worked at a nature centre over the summer that we fed our hawk small mice and water.
