A few questions before my endeavor

a few mod questions.

I am going to remove my hard drive cage. im pretty sure it's secured by rivets. if its not, how should I go about removing it.

next im going to install a smaller hard drive cage in a different section of my case. how should I secure it? drill holes then screw it in? I want it to look clean and flush without screws hanging out the bottom.

One more question and im done :D

how should I punch 1" holes out the side of my case? I drill and a hole puncher?

jk, If you plan on making your own "mesh" style on the side of your case, you better be careful. I see a lot of mods usually throw out the original side because it warps :/

im trying to punch holes for better cable management so it will be on the back of the case under the motherboard

I love little projects like this you should try a mod sometime! They're fun :D

Drill a small hole where you want to cut then if you have a hack saw or saw-zaw just put the blade in the hole and then just cut around said area.

Maybe I'll look into it when I get my rig together, eventually. I do have the case but I don't feel confident doing it :D

Well if you do it the right way it wont look bad at all.

its not really the most open spot...I dont think I could fit a hack saw in there let alone make a clean cut. I hope its riveted.

Cos i'm too bloody lazy to read the previous comments, I suggest using a small drill piece (I use a 3mm) to drill out the centre of the pop rivet. This is the cleanest and most efficient way of removing them. This also allows you to re-use the holes the rivets were in. To attach the new hdd cage just use pop rivets. They will be the cleanest way of attaching the cage and if possible use the holes from the previous cage. The piece of excess pop rivet can be cut off or hammered down to sit flush with the case.

If its is rivets drill, otherwise it will bet screws so use a screwdriver

 

use small m3/m4 bolts or screws and then "tap" holes in the bottom of the case so you can screw it in without having bolts etc.

 

use a drill with a 1" hole saw attachment.
