Does this Motherboard Support sli?

Go to solution Solved by OAcesync,

I don't think it's worth upgrading to a newer generation yet so I would get this motherboard: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157293&cm_re=lga1155-_-13-157-293-_-Product

Hello,

I bought a second gtx 970 but my motherboard is a micro atx (p8z77m-pro) and the cards too close to each other. I would like to buy a new mobo that has more space, but I have a i7 3770k and there are very few mobos with an lga 1155 socket. I found this one, on newegg, but I am not sure if it supports sli.

Also do you think that it is worth upgrading my cpu to haswell or skylake? I mainly game on my pc. I don't do any kind of video editing. At the end of the day, I can afford to upgrade it, but if this cpu is still okay for the next 2-3 years I would rather keep it.

Thank you for your answers.

1. I don't think the motherboard supports SLI since it is not listed in the supported features.

2.Keep that CPU, it is still good today. My friend has an i7 2600 and it is gaming fine.

It does not support SLI. Nvidia requires you to use PCIe of x8 or greater.

kk thanks. I ll try to find another board, but since it is an older cpu socket I can t find many models. The only ones that support sli are around 200$. I find it very expensive for a board that is almost 4 years old.

Sorry. The board does not support SLI. The top slot is PCIe 3.0 x16, which is fine. However, the second PCIe slot is wired for x4 only. NVIDIA requires that PCIe slots at least be x8 regardless of generation. http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z75%20Pro3/?cat=Specifications

So do you guys think that I should pay 200+ for an lga1155 board or should I just upgrade to haswell or skylake? I know that it would cost me another 300-400$ more, but I really feel like its a rip-off to buy such an old board at such a high price.
