7 years? You are being optimistic a lot. I give this game 3 years at most.

 

I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. 4-5 years at most for this current gen, and then like a year to a year and a half while they ween down the services for the previous gen. I hope at least that the servers stay up until the next console generation at the very least. They shouldn't end it early and fuck over their customers of the current gen.

That's still "the cloud", cloud computing is a concept that is much easier for none tech people to understand,

 

If I told my dad "some of the game is calculated in the cloud" he would be like "that's clever"

if I was like "the game console simultaneously sends data that is calculated server-side and it is instantly sent back to the console for rendering" his eyes would explode

Physics calculations are spectacularly complicated and demanding, even for beastly systems. Physics calculations for destructions can grind rigs to a halt, how is it a bad thing that MS implanted a way to simply send the raw data to a server that is far more powerful than 99% of the rigs out there to crunch the results and then send the code back for the game to enact? We are really complaining that something like this now exists and is feasible for consumer based applications? 

I was AMAZED when Final Cut got the option to farm out work to another computer natively, in app. It was great. You could work on your timeline while another computer chugged away at something preventing your editing computers CPU from being too taxed. The kind of tech can only improve things...

The point is.. is a better physics system, worth reducing the life span of a game, fact is in the future if that physics server isnt running, gets hacked, has issues etc, then it renders that game unplayable

Meh, pretty much PC could do this on its own easily without the help of a server. 

 

Also I see this getting toned down at least a little due to the facts being, lots of people will buy the game and that means heavy server load. Also lots of people have crap internet in the world, not to mention internet still being unreliable in some parts of the world.

Damn you must have been lucky with the 360, I  went through 5.... That's what pushed me to PC, sure I didn't have to pay for most of them and most were covered under warranty, but having something you play games on gone for like a month just because of the stupid RRoD, never again...

It does look unnatural. We need soft-body dynamics for that, and no Xbox or immense levels of cloud will enable this, at least in this generation (of consoles, PC mustard race all the way).
