Powerline Adapter bandwidth issues

Hi guys,

 

Looking for some help diagnosing why my powerline adapters have become really slow. Whether it's connected or not I just upgraded my broadband from 60 to 240, and yet I am only getting 30Mbps max on a speed test using TP Link 500Mbps adapters.

 

I would expect a speed in the region of 90Mbps (seeing as the only have 10/100 ports) taking interference into account.

 

I'd also like to point out that I was getting 60Mbps using the adapters before my upgrade to the 240Mb broadband :/. Like wtf...

Does your internet provider deliver you that speed?

Yes, direct to the modem I have the full 240Mbps on a speedtest.

This is gonna sound silly, but do you have anything else newly plugged into the wall outlets since the upgrade?

 

I've used PL adapters, and I noticed the most interesting thing: If I had only the PC on, I'd get about 50Mbps speeds (on a 75Mbps line), but if I turned on the TV in the room and a lamp, it'd drop to about 35ish.

 

Stuff plugged into the walls matters.

The upgrade came with a new router, which is plugged in right beside it, so maybe that's causing the interference? That's the only new thing in the house as far as I know.

Yes, it would affect it. To what degree? I don't know. That's for you to test and find out.

Make sure the port that it is connected to on the router is configured in the appropriate state and all connections along the way to the end device. IE: Full-Duplex and whatever speed the highest speed between the two connections is.

@Coswar did that fix it?
