I owned either a candy bar or a flip phone--never a smartphone--up until 2019.

And I would go back in a heartbeat...if I didn't need it for work.

I´m messing around on my laptop instead of participating in class. As of right now, I should be participating in latin.

English is not my first language, so please excuse any confusion or misunderstandings on my end.

I like to edit my posts a lot.

Even with the price of SSD's today I still gravitate to spinning rust for my everyday machine.

Is there a reason for that?

I don't really understand the storage market as I have been really outdated on this, last time I built a PC, having a SATA SSD as a windows drive was a luxury.. And now we have 7Gb/s read/write speed as standard apparently..! Absolutely had my mind blown as I shopped for an M.2 drive first time in years this black friday.

At the moment my mobo only has 2 m.2 ports and I also don't feel like buying a riser card. Plus I can barely tell the difference in speed even when loading a game.

"Only"? I'd love to have one of those slots for my boot disk!

HP didn't put an NVMe slot on the board of the z840 workstation, instead, they sold a riser card as a separate addition. Hey, at least it's got a nice heatsink...

For me its data rot on ssds I use hard drives for cold storage as I usally dont power a drive for like a year or longer.

I have a couple of ssd for boot or dumping footage but its mostly hard drives.

Hard drives sure have an allure to them. I use 10K and 15K SAS drives for all of my video editing and file servers, and older SATA drives as boot disks in systems that don't get shut down often...

Dead Thread Redemption 2

I install all operating systems from DVDs/CDs. Sure, it is slower than USB, but I like having a stack of labelled discs and always being able to immediately find the one I need. And with a DVD it is really clear if the install is working or not - if the installer is sitting there with a blinking cursor for a few minutes on a USB, I never know if it's actually successfully reading files from the flash drive. But with DVDs it is very easy to tell.
