Glad i picked up my macbook last year, €200 off and a €100 gift card that i could use on office 365 and a sleeve making it quite a reasonable bargain considering the fact i already have decent headphones.

May the light have your back and your ISO low.

Hey at least you aren't paying extra for the beats headphones instead of paying 200 bucks separate for them.

Isn't this more appropriate in the deals section?

Pretty decent deal if you like both Apple computers and the Beats Solo2, and I am pretty sure there is a very big overlap.

-snip-

Wow you're already back again? That's a lot quicker than the last time. ;)

1. Buy MacBook pro

2. Sell Beats for $180

3. Purchase Sony MDR-1A

4. Be happy you just saved $180

5. Realize you spent lots more money on a laptop

6. Shit

My brain just actually did this

5800X3D - RTX 4070 - 2K @ 165Hz

Wait, is this deal Macs or MacBooks? I like MacBooks, but Macs are just plain shit IMO.

Nice deal. And a decent pair of headphones. Before any of you scream "Beats! EW!" The solo 2s are pretty decent.

So whose projecting now?  ;)

There's no way you can trust any reviews of products associated with Apple. The fact that they black list people from their review samples if you provide a negative review makes it impossible for me to trust any of these reviews. The only person that I know I can trust when it comes to reviews of apple products is Linus, as he's already on the blacklist so he doesen't have to try to stay on it, and the fact that I don't remember him giving any positive reviews for Apples stuff recently either.

Macs? Well... I just see no advantages of them over a normal PC. I don't particularly like their aesthetics, they get pretty toasty when under a high load, the pre installed OS is restrictive and not particularly nice to use (IN MY OPINION) and I just see no reason why they're so good.

and not particularly nice to use (IN MY OPINION)

The aesthetics are the same as any AIO pc, which people most definitely buy as it takes up less space -- and many computers now end up in living rooms/public places -- as such, having something that looks like a clunky piece of shit isn't exactly ideal. And all PCs within the same form factor tend to get hot under load.

How exactly is OSX restrictive? It's application support isn't exactly all that much worse than that of Linux....

For 99% of things OSX is exactly the same as Windows.

So your issue with Macs is that you don't like the AIO design, that has nothing to do with it being a Mac, but rather you simply not liking/understanding the form factor.

I can kind of see that, but I personally dislike the Apple logo slapped upon the front and its look as a whole I just dislike. Sorry for having an opinion.

It's application support isn't exactly all that much worse than that of Linux....

For 99% of things OSX is exactly the same as Windows.

Yes, but DEFINATELY still not ideal and nowhere near matches Windows' program library. Also, I hate OSX's UI. Once again, sorry for having an opinion.

Yeah, no. There's shit, and then there's fucking huge piles of horse shit.

Nope, my issue with Macs don't just stop at those points. The overpricedness, poorly chosen hardware which has been known to overheat, lack of customisability, overpricedness, annoying fanbase which rides Apple's nob like it's on Pornhub...

That's an issue with SSDs in general, not specifically the one used by Apple. The reason SSDs are terrible for any backup-use (aside from the cost) is the fact that retrieving data off a damaged/dying SSD is very difficult -- while HDDs tend to give you a warning that they're going to fail, SSDs will just one day stop working (at which point you're more than likely never going to see the data that was stored on it ever again).

yup totally agree that's why I'll never recommend a laptop with a ssd as only drive for a student I myself use ssd and hdd on my laptop cause I can't survive the 2 minute wait for it to power on

The new Macbook is an engineering marvel

No it's not.

Even if it were, that pricepoint and lack of ports makes it kinda useless.

Not necessarily, they used to include iPod Touches with Macs -- albeit that was also used as a way to clear out old stock before the new iPod is released...

maybe they are clearing stock for a new beats lineup?

Mac mini's are too cheap, Apple also only discounts the Mac Mini like $20 for students, whereas most other things are at least $100-$200.

maybe they are clearing stock for a new beats lineup?

Could be maybe, or just a general way to insensitive buyers without giving away something as expensive as an iPod (or maybe hoping giving away headphones will also net them some iPod sales). It could also be Apple trying to make decent headphones a more common thing (think about how many people are still using shitty Apple/Samsung earbuds).

You know, you can do frequent backups to an external HDD of any important files...

Sweet, buy a shit computer and get a pair of shit headphones!

Anyways, if I did this, I'd buy a MacBook for programming and sell the beats :3

+1 on this.

** EDIT ** +1 on the selling the headphones. Not all Mac's are completely shit, they have their uses. As a web developer they're easier and nicer to work on than ANY windows/Linux computer. I know, I've tried. ;)

I'm tempted to buy the new Macbook pro fully upgraded (£2500 from Apple) - so the Solo2's to sell would be a bonus.

But even then I can get the same laptop brand new still from reputable sellers on ebay for £2099.

Once I've got my car insured and stuff I may be getting the new MBP. - Dual booting windows for *light* gaming on the go, too.

1. You can use iCloud, dropbox or anything else to backup your data.

2. It's not just about boot time when using SSDs ( and your pervious statement is so freaking ignorant if you actually think SSDs just matter for boot times )

I can kind of see that, but I personally dislike the Apple logo slapped upon the front and its look as a whole I just dislike. Sorry for having an opinion.

MacBooks are Macs as far as I know, so why are they shitty ?

They're extremely expensive prebuilts. If this were any other company we were talking about, this alone would make everyone here discard the option immediately. Some of them overheat (not nice for a 4k$ machine) and in general, I consider pretty much the whole lineup (if there are exceptions I haven't seen them) terrible value and unsuitable for pretty much anyone, not because they're all bad machines necessarily, but because they are all way too expensive for what you get.

MacBook Pros are somewhat better than desktop Macs because laptops are pretty expensive in general and you can't really build your own, so the value is higher; that said, I still consider most of them too expensive for what they offer. Not I said macbook PROs, that's because in my opinion the "macbook" is a 1300$ tablet with a keyboard, with less flexibility than most actual tablets I might add.

^of course all of the above is my opinion, and we could discuss about numbers for days, but right now I don't really want to start a flamewar. Feel free to disagree.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I really don't get how Apple could partner up with Beats.

Apple is known for being on the kind of expensive side, while still delivering an appropriate build quality and high standard software.

Beats on the other hand just makes overpriced, bad sounding and sometimes even ugly headphones.

I once had one of these, now I've got this.
