2-Way 980ti Worth it?

Is it worth it to do a 2-way 980ti setup or would that money be better used toward something like an intel 700series pcie SSD?

pcie-ssd would not benefit you comparted to dual 980ti`s, if you did dual 980ti`s you could easily push 4k maxed out, but the only real thing you would gain with the ssd would be a bit faster loading time and file transfer speeds, id say just get a normal ssd

I agree mostly, but 2 980tis do not push 4K maxed out easily. They still struggle at max settings (even with AA off) in a fair few games.

if you were running on high resolution and refresh rate, also the games you play would have to be pretty demanding for you to justify this

Witcher 3 with Hairworks and no AA. I can't hit a consistent 60fps but thank god for GSYNC. It's close even when heavily overclocked.

Well the monitor setup I want to do is something like the PG34q with an inverted monitor on each side. The two side monitors are probably only going to be 1080p or 1440p

No. It will average around 40 FPS. And BF4 is a bad example, it's a very well optimised game and pretty much everything performs well with it.

Yes, no doubt, but they'll still struggle with things maxed out in demanding games.

For 4K? Yes

 

For 1440p? Yes, but a single 980Ti can already run all games at 60+ except for witcher 3 with hair works. Not counting horribly optimized games like Arkham knight.
