what are the best free alternatives to Microsoft Office? I know Google docs is one but I feel that is very limited to what you can change.

I would still say Google Docs, because you can install extensions to it.

Personally I can't recommend OpenOffice. I am using it as a 'daily driver' on a MacBook at work and it is a giant turd. It crashes occasionally, is slow (could be the old MacBook's fault <_< ) and is missing vital functionality compared to MS Office.

For a basic text, sheet and presentation maker, it's sufficient, but nothing more than that.

I love Libre Office.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

what are the best free alternatives to Microsoft Office? I know Google docs is one but I feel that is very limited to what you can change.

You have several choices. The big ones are:

1. Google Docs

2. OpenOffice

3. LibreOffice

4. Microsoft Office Online

As you say, Google Docs is pretty limited. "Alright" if all you need is to type up a simple letter, etc, but MS Office is just so far ahead of it, it's ridiculous.

The two Open Source Office alts: Open/Libre Office, are branches of the same original project. I believe LibreOffice is the most active one these days, though the interface and features of both will be fairly similar. Both look like ass, like the UI was developed in the late 90's, but are functional.

I would, however, strongly recommend checking out Microsoft Office Online before the rest. If you have a Microsoft account (Hotmail, Outlook, Skype, etc), then Office Online is free. It includes a cut down version of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. The UI is the same basic UI from MS Office, so there's very little learning curve involved. It's obviously not as powerful as full Office, but it should still be better than Google Docs.

I use Google Drive because it saves in the cloud, but Libre Office is more powerful.

I don't know about Google Drive, but with other cloud storage (OneDrive, Dropbox, etc), you create a folder on your HDD that automatically syncs with the cloud. Therefore, I can save a document to my OneDrive folder on my PC, and it automatically syncs to the cloud.

Furthermore, many programs have built-in cloud save options, or can be enabled via plugins. I would check to see if LibreOffice has this capability.

Google Docs is easy to use. You even sync everything into it. My vpn works well with it. I can even access it to any computers, you just need an internet connection.
