STRMfrmXMN's PSU Whitelist (No longer updated)

I did some research using this site:

http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/PSUReviewDatabase.html

With my research I found:

PC Power & Cooling Silencer (Mk III): Great SeaSonic and Super Flower units, Japanese capacitors, but quite ironically, these units can be LOUD.

OCZ ZS series: All Japanese capacitors, a little pricey for the features it has.

OCZ ZT series: 5 year warranty, great pricing. The soldering isn't top notch though.

FSP Aurum PT series: JohnnyGuru has nothing negative to say about these units, so they'll definitely be good enough to make it into this list. There may be more good stuff from FSP, but I have no time to look through it all.

Kingwin: They have really decent Super Flower units, 95% of their stuff is from Super Flower, so I see no real problems. JohnnyGuru recommends multiple of their PSUs.

SilverPower SxxxM and SxxxFL series: Very good SeaSonic units. The second rail isn't rock solid, but it's way better than some units out there.

Laptop: Intel Core i5-4200H, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, GeForce 840M

Desktop: Intel Core i3-6100, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, GeForce GTX 750 Ti

Because it answers most of the questions asked?

"We also blind small animals with cosmetics.
We do not sell cosmetics. We just blind animals."

"Please don't mistake us for Equifax. Those fuckers are evil"

Because it's a whitelist rather than a tier list? I dunno, you definitely know more than me about PSUs, I admit it.

"Is this a good PSU?"

Exactly. It also points out that I got fucked with the Corsair VS650 and CX850M.

Thermaltake's Germany series (Including Munich) is not worst, they're great price/performance and I know many people that got Munich, Hamubrg and Berlin, they're the same PSU, just with less watts and I'm using a berlin myself and it's great.

You can add Cyonic to the list. All their PSU-s are Seasonic and have 5 yrs warranty.

Alrighty, will do, though I've never heard of them and they aren't even listed on PCPP....

Awesomeness of this thread is real! Ty STRMfrmXMN :)

Thanks for this thread, is so useful.

Also I want to recommend "even more" the Cooler Master VSM series, they're great.

I almost bought a RM550 instead the V550, glad I didn't got that almost crappy thing.

I have a friend that had an accident with a Cooler Master Silent Pro 720W, it just sparkled from noting, and stopped powering the system, but only the PSU died, the rest of the system were fine.

CM told him that they're not making the Silent Pro series, or something like that, they gave him a V750, the new one without any charge,

CM is love, and life.

Something I don't get with this chart of tiers on glorious PC Master Race. Where is Chieftec? Are their series so bad that even single one cant enter even tier 5? Or I am blind as a bat? I just don't see it :D

Well I haven't "tiered" anything per-se but Chieftec uses CWT and Sirtec as OEMs so I don't feel like personally going through each one to see if they're any good.

Eh, that list has way too many issues to name. I would not use that as a reference at all.

Added a few PSUs to the list that have come out recently. Some more stuff may be added later from Cooler Master and Rosewill.
