@STRMfrmXMN: What exactly is the difference between Corsair's RM-series and the new RMi-series?

One has a clusterfuck of OEMs and stuff gone wrong with it. RM is either made by Chicony or CWT, depending on the time you've bought yours and what wattage and model and all that. RMi is a super solid PSU though still carries a Corsair price tag.

Soon you're going to be doing all computer parts :D

... still waiting for the RGB Shine 5.....

edit: Sorry for derailment. Anyways, cool list. You should make a blacklist as well, so people know what they should stay away from. I know you did a few, but an entire list would be cool

Probably won't be making a guide to audio or monitors anytime soon but thanks for the consideration :P

And Ducky, you must make RGB faster. You must.

The Blacklist one would be much, much longer. It's a huge time saver to just have people ask unfortunately. I'd have to do an explanation for every PSU that I would put on that list...

It's a good idea but not for me. People are always welcome to ask :)

The CX400 from Corsair is good because it's a Seasonic inside. And a good one at that.

I'm using a one for the last close to 6 years and only the fan failed on me (works, but loud and greasing it does not help, so I replaced it).

The newer CX are CWT and can pass for ~regular~ PC-s but only if v2 or newer (the ones with the 80+ certificate, better parts and quality).

Most XFX PSU-s have loud fans, even when not under heavy load. And most XFX PSU-s are Seasonic inside.

I have a new Fractal Design Edison M 550W unit waiting to be installed, will do it maybe tomorrow.

It should be great since if I understood it's a Seasonic platform with a few capacitors replaced (Japanese too, but from a different manufacturer), a lot like the Seasonic 550G BUT with a lot better FAN.

You forgot to mention that every single XFX PSU is a seasonic OEM, so they be a amazing option.

I pointed out that XFX everything is good.

The CX line has been so good to me. :( I guess I just have good luck... and I'm just one person.

A majority of people I have talked to have not had problems with the CX series.

These are brand models - not OEM units (talking about the FSP stuff there). I haven't heard of the first 4 things you mentioned so it's probably good to leave them out :P

FSP is an OEM...

I forgot which brand they made stuff for... but I think it was EVGA...

The others are very anemic PSUs that I had the misfortune of using...

A majority of people I have talked to have not had problems with the CX series.

The problems with CX series are less than evident most of the time. Ambient temp tolerance of 30C will often have it shutting itself off (I have seen this on the forum before) and it is not an overclocking PSU. Also has some issues with ripple which slowly kills HDDs.

*sigh* fuck my VS650 and CX850M (and yes I've had both of them shut down even with a light load and low temps).

FSP is an OEM, yes. I am not including OEM units themselves. Sorry, I'm tired and a bit nauseous and can't quite explain myself...

Been using an RM1000 for the last year and a half and everything seems to be okay, I have never had any issues with it at least. If I was buying now though I would 1000% go with either the RMi series or something from Super Flower.

I believe they use that name in Europe, yes.

I was not trying to say that. They are not just OEM, they make and sell their own units. Just like Seasonic does.

They were Fortron, but they expanded (some other manufacturers, low end ones) joined their grupation and that's how the FSP group came to be.

There are FSP / Fortron PSU-s out there, at least in Europe but I think they're available in the USA and other markets too.

So, not just OEM like Channel Well Technologies (CWT).
