I was not trying to say that. They are not just OEM, they make and sell their own units. Just like Seasonic does.

They were Fortron, but they expanded (some other manufacturers, low end ones) joined their grupation and that's how the FSP group came to be.

There are FSP / Fortron PSU-s out there, at least in Europe but I think they're available in the USA and other markets too.

So, not just OEM like Channel Well Technologies (CWT).

CWT actually sells PSUs and yes I do no that FSP does sell units but most people don't buy PSUs directly from FSP AFAIK, at least in North America.

EVGA 1000G is bae; not only is a super reliable psu, it also has two 8 pin eps connectors for my server board :D

You got lucky with the 1000W G though. The original G1 had issues for days bar the 1000W version.

Seems to be, even though EVGA technically doesn't make them. Yeah, they do seem to have the same cable design for all of their modular PSUs. But EVGA has been killing it with PSUs lately - they know who to go to for their OEMs.

I newer saw a system with a CWT branded PSU, but I came across many Fortron / FSP PSU-s in many machines, I even have an 350W Fortron PNF in the rig my parents use.

The Fortron PNF 350W and 400W were almost as good as the CX400 but a bit cheaper. The quality of FSP/Fortron PSU-s degraded when the FSP group was introduced.

*sigh* fuck my VS650 and CX850M (and yes I've had both of them shut down even with a light load and low temps).

I think part of the difference in PSUs you and I see is because of your location. I've seen FSP OEM'd PSUs many times but never FSP-branded PSUs, although the same goes for CWT.

You got lucky with the 1000W G though. The original G1 had issues for days bar the 1000W version.

The Corsair VS650 and CX850M are major exceptions.

I'm looking for one right now that has a strong 5V rail (dual Pentium III overclocking), and a 12V rail that can handle 8x HDD with a Geforce 6200 and headroom to spare (the CX850M and VS650 apparently have power stability issues that affect HDD negatively).

I'm just showing that retail FSP units are available in the US and CA.

 

Some of them are really good, but most of them are average and/or acceptable.
