How do I convince my parents/sister to not get the new macbook for college and instead get the macbook air?

Tell them that its a mac, and how horrible the connectivity is, also show them the price for replacement chargers, because of that custom connector.

the XPS13 2015 is amazing.  My mom got one and loves it.  Such a nifty little machine.

You won't need to shell out an extra $100 to plug USB type a devices in if she gets the MacBook Air and that it's cheaper by default than the new MacBook?

I would honestly go for the Macbook. It serves it's purpose as a DD for Uni or work. It's also lighter. Something a lot of kiddies in this forum don't get since they're not used to haul their 17'', 5kg Aliensexual™ Gaymenware™ 1337™ Edition™.
