can i share files on different computers on the same network

Uberskills

Absolutely, all windows computers will show up under the Network tab in the Computer window, though if im right (never done this) you need to setup a homegroup to be able to share files.

Something wrong with your connection ?

Run the damn cable :)

I don't think homegroups are necessary. I have my computers sharing files and I've never configured a homegroup. What I do is make sure all of the computers are in the same domain/workgroup, and that seems to do it for me.

How to change Workgroup:

  1. Open the start menu
  2. Right Click computer
  3. Click Properties
  4. In the list on the left click "Advanced System Settings"
  5. Then click the "Computer Name" tab
  6. Click the "Change" button, it is the last button
  7. Change the workgroup to whatever you want, I use my last name, but it is up to you.
  8. Click OK, and then you will have to restart your computer

That is about it for changing the workgroup, but the homegroup might be an easier way to do it.
