I was having the same issue that @dav was having, and i seemed to fix it by changing 3d settings in nvidia control panel for GTA5.exe to maximum pre-rendered frames to 1 and power management to prefer maximum performance, i still have a few lag spikes here and there, but their manageable

my cpu is at 90% and 50C, my gpu is at 50% at 55C, when it crashes msi afterburner sometimes shows that the gpu is at 100% and the psu is at 99999999999999%, its usually at 50% under load and 9% in idle

i get 120-150 fps it says, more like 0.1 fps

Are you using Self Radio? I had the same problem where CPU usage would go through the roof if I enable it.

and btw, its worse now, when i get to the garage (take the elevator/30 sec) the game just freezes  :angry:

have you tried un-parking CPU cores?

Oh sorry if some one mentioned it, but check with Afterburner you are not reaching the infamous 3.5gb of VRAM.

If yes lower details that takes a lot of VRAM.
