AMD Withdraw KitGuru's Fury X Sample over "negative stance towards AMD" (Updated with response from AMD)

VMaxMuffin

So your making assumptions then. By all means believe that if you want, but without proof don't post it as a fact.

If Nvidia were paying reviewers to say certain things it would have come out by now and the shit storm would be real.

Wouldn't early access and the ad impressions count as paying, even if it is indirect? Allegedly nvidia has a very strict reviewers guide which they have to adhere to...or else...

Why give away something you can sell for money?

It's not like there still won't be more than enough different sources with benchmarks and reviews for consumers.

Are you serious? AMD/Nvidia don't make money from reviewers, reviewing is part of marketing and public awareness campaigns.  When products are in limited supply or expensive they usually ship them in turn to everyone and then get them to return the sample or send it to the next reviewer, they do not simply say "no you can't get one".  And yes 10 units is a pretty small number for a product they expect to ship in the hundreds of thousands.

Then that statement would apply equally to every company that sends review samples. Yet we don't consider review samples as payment, if the reviewer gets to keep them it's a perk. But it's hardly free, they have to provide a review, they have to benchmark the product and be thorough to earn the right to receive samples in the first place.

The problem here is the Sgioux has claimed Nvidia pay reviewers to make certain comments. specifically that the 960 is a sweet spot/mid-range card.  Most of the reviews I have seen actually question that term because it is a marketing term put forward by nvidia.  The reviewers conclusion are usually their own. regardless of the introduction.

I don't see the problem here. It's only assumed AMD pulled the review sample due to overall poor reviews from them. Honestly they don't need to provide review samples at all.

10 cards for Europe is probably enough for one for every significant language in the region. O.o

Why do you need 50 reviewers to all say the same thing when you can pick and choose the 10 most influential ones for launch day?  As you say, the cards will make the rounds for the other reviewers eventually.

Why do you think?  do you really want 10 handpicked reviews  that are taming their content for fear of missing out on pre-release hardware over 20, 30, 40 or even more independent reviews?

AMD is afraid of what less 'fanboy' reviewers will say, plain and simple. Its pathetic. They don't want to show everyone the card, thats fine. But they're pulling this on KitGuru AFTER they said KitGuru would get one, and only AFTER KitGuru said less than appeasing things about AMD.

AMD is the kid who talks a lot of shit against other companies yet gets awfully defensive when said shit is delivered back towards them. Not our problem that AMD can't stomach the idea that not every reviewer thinks they walk on water.

Linus is getting a review sample. You are implying that Linus is a "fanboy reviewer" that thinks "AMD walks on water".

This is LTT. One cannot force "style over substance" values & agenda on people that actually aren't afraid to pop the lid off their electronic devices, which happens to be the most common denominator of this community. Rather than take shots at this community in every post, why not seek out like-minded individuals elsewhere?

Benchmarks don't have a review bias. I don't give a fuck what the reviewer thinks, I form my own conclusion from comparing benchmarks.

If they do shoddy benchmarks to paint it in a better light, it will be obvious.

Look at the review sample of the MSI 390X TTL of oc3d received.

Previous reviewer had taken the card apart and not properly put it back together and they sent that card off to another reviewer. That's a 390X making the rounds much less a fury x.

I thought this was the case at first but AMD isn't sending out the 390x. Only Furys. You'll hear in the video when TTL mentioned he contacted MSI, this'll tell us that MSI sent him the card instead.

Hence why I said MSI and gave an example of another company being frugal with products.

To be fair I used to follow Kitguru, but there is a lot of Nvidia/Intel fanboys over there.  In fact there's also a lot of people to attack you if mess up like once then they bring in an army of fanboys to attack you.  They're about as cancerous now as Kotaku.  To be fair though not everyone at Kitguru nor are all the followers bad, but there's still a lot of cancer there.

just like here then...

Naw, it is a lot worse in those two places.  The mods here aren't bad at all, the actual guys[Nick, Linus, Skip, etc.], and most of the fans aren't actual fanboys they have reasons to suggest Intel for gaming over AMD.  The people here are actually overly helpful, and the ones who come off as fanboys are being intentionally cheeky.  The cancer is Kotaku and Kitguru.  Oh, and don't get me started on PCgamer.  I had a debate with a pissy mod over there who cried about how his cellphone was far more powerful than an Xbox One, and was bitching because the server was down when he wanted to update it because his little girl couldn't play.  Like the dude has never heard of server maintenance.  e.e

I was talking about forum members, especially if you make a mistake or are silly enough point out the failings of company X.  Prepare for the shit storm, some one wants to talk about the Fury X...

By the way am I the only one who sees this every time I read the word fury?:

Sure, "wrestling" ;)

Well if it's done with safe search then I guess it should be okay. I was told LTT wouldn't be able to earn money through Google adsense if there were any links to pornography on the site.

I believe it came from a blog about society and culture, not a porn site.
