Have Nvidia broken Kepler?

wolfsbane3083

I have a GTX 770. I knew something wasn't right when I was running The Witcher 3 last night.

Goddamnit nVidia, fix it. Rolling back drivers until then.

So long as they aren't nerfing performance on Fermi... I'm happy.

If they be doing it on Kepler they gonna be doing it on Fermi

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

I was only 9 years old. I loved Fifflaren so much, I had all the NiP merchandise and matches pirated. I prayed to Fifflaren every night before bed. Thanking him for the life I have been given. Fifflaren is love I say. Fifflaren is life. My dad hears and calls me a fuckhead. I knew he was just jelly of my passion for Fifflaren. I called him a Sw@yer. He hits me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now, and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel someone touching me. I feel someone touching me. It's Fifflaren. I am so happy. He whispers in my ear; "this is my pyjama". He grabs me with his powerful Swedish hands and puts me on my hands and knees. I'm ready. I spread my ass cheeks for Fifflaren. He penetrates my butt-hole. It hurts so much but I do it for Fifflaren. I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water. I push against his force. I want to please Fifflaren. He roars a viking roar as he fills my butt with his love. My dad walks in. Fifflaren looks straight into his eyes and says; "He is a ninja now". Fifflaren is love, Fifflaren is life

Seriously though, I bet Nvidia will release another update to fix this.

Haven't bought it yet, probably will tonight. But with my internet that means I'll be gaming tomorrow. ( Maybe they will pull a MKX and another patch will come out by then xD )

Soooo, I haven't seen anything on SLI performance. Do GPUs scale well at least? (2x770s here)

I would speculate, as I did in another thread, that the game makes heavy use of Asynchronous Shader Engines, which AMD have been using in their architecture since HD7000 series, and Nvidia have only started using with Maxwell. It's entirely possible that without that support, the game would run terribly on all hardware.

Two pieces of evidence suggest this is possible (again I'm only speculating here)

1. AMD have yet to release a driver, and yet HD7000 series cards and newer are performing fairly well - especially Hawaii

2. Nvidia would not purposefully nerf their own products. Most pc gamers don't have mad stacks of cash sitting around to upgrade, and tend to get riled up on the internet over nefarious moves like this.

See, this is how it works

Maxwell = AMDs 7xxx architecture in so far as shader engines go, and both exceed what Kepler is capable of. This MIGHT be solvable with some clever driver implementations but you can't write software to give Kepler tech that it straight up doesn't have.

I think they call this the price of innovation, old shit gets left behind. Maxwell is architecturally different and more in line with the competition, Kepler was not and is now feeling the effects.

Not everything is a conspiracy theory, you know?

I don't get it. I didn't upgrade to that driver because the game runs fine.

I also use HBAO+, hairworks off OF COURSE....

Lots of Ultra/High/medium only 2 low settings. Grass and foliage. Those are on low. I've seen the details on ultra and to get the best out of this game you should mix the settings.

I'm playing it perfectly and I'm satisfied with the graphics at this point.

Other vids are being uploaded right now so stay tuned.

This video shows my settings when it's done processing.

Wow that is really interesting, sucks for Nvidia users if that is the case, not rubbing it in but I really mean it, that would suck so bad.

Seems a little strange that Nvidia would work closely with them and gameworks and let this slide. Was this tech in W2? Is it apart of the engine that has to stay? I don't know much about gaming development or its process, but seems strange for CDPR to implement a shader that rips Nvidia apart like this.

Going to be interesting to watch it unfold.

And that is why, I went with AMD. They can't break they're old GPUs be causing they're still modern to them!

In a way, it's a great thing for some consumers that the 7970 is still around in the form of 280X. It used to be that the GTX 680 competed with that card, look at it now...

That said AMD is still on the same architecture, while nVidia already moved onto the next one. Who knows what happens when Arctic Islands launches. The 6000-series aren't doing too well at this point.

the conspiracy theories have already started that Nvidia are nerfing kepler performance so that people upgrade sooner.

Implying it's not the case

What is the point of selling a gpu that can run games for 5 years when you can sell one that runs them for 2 years by artificially slow it the fuck down so people buy the newer one ?

Just like printers.
