Benro S2 vs S4 vs Velbon PH-368

Go to solution Solved by ShadowCaptain,

hmm 24mm@2.8?

Would be good, f2.8 still gives a nice depth of field and decent low light performance

24mm is nice as it would be roughly a 35-38mm lens after crop which is much better than 80mm

Don't cheap out on your tripod, unless you plan to replace it often, A tripod and a good head should last you decades.

I think f0.78 or something but commonly f0.95 like the leica noctilux - there are also some copies from SLR magix and Mitakon (I plan to get an FE mount one for my A7 in the future)

as far as which lens to buy it depends on your needs and which focal length you prefer really, there is no right answer

How can i get smoothe focus? i want to rack focus, but its not smooth....

tips?

not all lenses are smooth, a follow focus can help, but some lenses rotate more smoothly

I had a look at the eimo one, but it needs a proper rig to hook on...

i just have the camera on a tripod, and use the legs of the tripod as grips to move it around, but when i have to focus, i have to move one hand, which makes it wobble a lot...

Yeah they fit to 15mm rods, however there is a version with an L bracket that fits to a tripod mount

do you really have to pull focus during video? can you not pre-focus

but you should focus on what you are filming first, then hit record and do your pan etc, then stop recording, move location, focus etc

or edit out the middle parts and do it in one long video

or work around the limitation for free by not pulling focus

they have very narrow focusing rings, and are very plasticy lenses so not the smoothest to turn - optically are good

Never tried, not much of a DIY guy, i just throw money at problems until they go away

I have the koolertron, its ok not 100% stable but i stabilized extra in post and did it in slow motion

Thanks, my video quality is nowhere near where I want it to be, I am actually quite unhappy with it haha, so hopefully I can make it even better - currently working on audio,
