2015 Intel Build Complete!

Go to solution Solved by Syh,

600 for what?

I think he means his old PC.. but the 550 Ti goes for less than $100 used and the Phenom II x4 965 goes for about the same (used). I'd say expect 250-300 max from the old build.

Just finished putting together my new (for me, anyways) Intel build featuring the 4690k and a GTX 970, along with a Corsair CX600M, 8GB of Corsair Vengeance, and an H440 case.

I wasn't too sure about how everything would go down, but joining the forums here proved to be a huge help! Thanks everyone, you were all very helpful and I look forward to utilizing (and hopefully helping others in the future!) the awesome community here for future upgrades, etc.

Though it's likely mediocre compared to other builds on the site, I am very happy with it and it was surprisingly easy once all finished! Can't wait to see how she handles the Witcher 3 when it releases!

Just starting to build:

Got everything together but had to wait another week for the GPU :(

Cable management in the H440 is infamously difficult, but...

... I managed to get it perfectly flat!

Hello 970!

Once all together, it looks pretty clean in there I think! Only thing I'd like to add is a led strip to brighten things up more

Went to peel the plastic off the window when suddenly..

Realized it was inside too :S yes I peeled it while it was running and realized later how it could've ended very badly..

(not sure if you can see the black computer on the floor but that's my old one.. Feeling guilty for leaving her like that #justcomputerguyfeelings #missheralready)

should serve you well for a while! congrats!

one suggestion tho, move your graphics card to the top PCI Express slot. Most motherboard's lower PCI Express slots arent wired for 16x, the bottom one might even be 4x. IIRC, the bottom slot might even be controlled by the chipset and not the CPU ( read: even more bottle necked ).

EDIT:

This is a zoomed in shot of the bottom PCI-Express slot on your mother board, see how the metal pins in each one of the grooves is only in half of the slot, that means its not wired for 16x

Thanks! And hm, the manual looks like it's saying they're both 16x.. Could be wrong though?

retro hardware = 10x more swag IMO

If you ever want to sell that phenom with the mobo wouldn't have at least one potential buyer

Want a good game to play?  Check out Shadowrun: http://store.steampowered.com/app/300550/ (runs on literally any hardware)

Well I just played BF3 for a little and it seemed to run great; what will I be gaining if I move it to the top? I just kind of like it at the bottom lol

I actually am going to be selling it to help with all this build wracked up. Do you think 600 is fair?

Gah I thought so.. Got it in 2011 so I guess I can't expect much.
