First Gaming Build - Please Help

Go to solution Solved by SkywardKkalox,

So I'm trying to make my first build. I want to do pretty heavy gaming. My budget is $500-$600. I would rather spend less money if possible. This budget does not include an OS or a monitor, but it does include a wireless card and possibly an optical drive. I want to be able to easily upgrade later. I am using USD. I DO NOT plan on overclocking. Thank you in advance.

Omw with a build and remember to follow your topics.

Only thing i would change is the processor to this, because quad is much better for gaming.  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116942&cm_re=intel_i5-_-19-116-942-_-Product

Darkflame - For 600 dollars, you will not be able to build a machine that can do HEAVY gaming, but I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that.

PC SPECS: CPU: Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition│GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 Windforce 4GB(soon!)│MBO: Asus Z97-A │PSU: Rosewill 550w Fully-Modular │CASE: Deepcool TESSERACT SW

Hyperthreading helps the i3 A LOT there is not much of a difference @zappian has done benchmarks of both the i3 and i5 while gaming

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/345931-is-an-i5-worth-it-for-mid-end-cards/

For mid end çards an i3 is fine because it drives them to 100% load easily .You only need an i5 either for some open world games like i mentioned on the thread or for higher end cards.

Not quite, it's still quite powerfull but if you have save up some more cash i would go with the exact same build except with an  4440.

Get a four core then.  For games like that, a four core cpu will be more powerful than a two cores.  Also, some games, (Farcry 4) don't even support dual core processors.

What four core would you recommend?

An I5 min 3.3 GHz (locked/unlocked does not matter a whole lot) make sure it is a desktop cpu

Stay away from these I5's -3220T, -750, -760, -2405S, -2400S, -650, -655K, -660, -661, -670, -680 do not buy the reason is that a newer (gen2 or newer) I3 is better for gaming.
