4690k or 750ti for rendering in sonyvegas

would an i5-4690k (possible overclock) render 1080p60fps sony vegas videos faster than a gtx 750ti?

ALSO i have a pentium g3258 right now would that render faster than a 750ti? I doubt it.

What about if it was pverclocked to around 4.0ghz?

Currently CPU encoding is so much faster than GPU encoding, especially in Nvidia cards. 

Add the fact that Nvidia drivers are known to misbehave with certain programs on occasion (Sony Vegas being one of them) and you really only want to use the GPU for acceleration rather than the whole thing.


I've built 3 PC's, but none for myself... In fact, I'm using an iMac that my dad bought for me as my desktop. Awkward...

Please don't say "SSD drive." By doing so, you are literally saying "Solid State Drive Drive" and causing my brain cells to commit suicide. The same applies to HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express).

If the 750ti is on the of compatible cards, it would be faster since Vegas can utilize the CUDA cores on approved gpus. As far as I could tell, you could use the 750ti on Open CL for timeline preview, but not for rendering (with open CL).

it depends on the project ive been saying for years that vegas doesnt use the gpu while it'll pin a cpu at 100%
however thats because i mostly deal with avi's, a few months back me and my friend tested some mp4 (or maybe mkv, im unsure) files and it maxed his gtx460 while his cpu sat around 20% so it depends on the work you're doing.
sony vegas can use both cuda and openCL, should you be wondering adobe photoshop is heavily openCL based.

How can i do that?

Make the cpu and gpu work together? I imagine that would be quite a bit faster.

20 minute vidja is taking about 5hrs to render atm
